hair thinning and brakeing
I started taking K2 vitamin for better calcium absorption (I take calcium supplements daily for my osteoporoses) about 6 months ago. Recently, I noticed that my hair became thicker. I had no idea why. I started reading and found K2 is very helpful in hair regrowth. I buy this on Amazon amazon.com/dp/B004QD4PHQ?ps... NOW Supplements, MK-7 Vitamin K-2 100 mcg, Cardiovascular Support*, Supports Bone Health*, 60 Veg Capsules. It's important that it is MK-7. I don't even take it every day, only three times a week. It is recommended to take daily. I might start doing it, now that I know that it help hair growth as well as bones. Even if you don't have osteoporoses you can still take K2. It's just a vitamin that is present in a number of natural foods, like spinach, broccoli and kale. But, it's probably a good idea to ask your doctor just in case. Good luck! Just to add, I've been on URSO for 6 years and my hair did get thinner over this period of time. I don't know if it was URSO or my thyroid Hashimoto's. But, it is thicker again.
thank u I will speak with my doc about this and see if it is ok too take 😀
Thanks so much iagra. My hair has been getting thinner and thinner but I didn't realise that it might be the Urso. I will definitely try the K2. It cannot do any harm and I also have osteoporosis so hopefully will help that too.
Absolutely. My bone density test this summer was better than the last summer. You can rebuild bones too. So, I think K2 is essential, along with D3. daily. I take D3 every day, but, I was taking K2 only three times a week. I think I'll start taking it daily. But, be patient, you won't see thicker hair right away. Give it a couple of months. Good luck!
I know it's vanity but I cannot thank you enough. You have given me hope and I'm prepared to be patient. You're a star!
Thank you Cressy. It's not vanity. We just want to look normal. I always had good hair and this was upsetting me a lot. I don't know 100% if it is K2, but, I can't find anything else that changed in my diet, my meds or anything else in the last 6 months, except for adding K2. I hope you see good results! Best of luck to you!
Well I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it is the K2 and will let you know in a couple of months if there is any improvement. Thank you again.
Please, do let me know. I hope it works! Best to you!
Sadly, after taking K2 daily for the last 11 months there is no difference to my hair, in fact it may be a little worse. However it was worth trying. I've made an appointment with a trichologist to see if she has any answers. I was told that the cause is not the urso but likely to be just another auto-immune disease. We shall see.
Over time, K2 didn't do anything for me in terms of hair as well. Only in the beginning, or at least it seemed this way. Sorry for useless advice. I also think that general auto-immune system is likely responsible. I also have chronic candida, I'm sure it is auto-immune system connected. It started a year after I was diagnosed with PBC. Good luck to you! If you figure out anything about the hairloss, please, let me know.
No need to apologise, it worked for you initially and was worth trying. I'm so sorry that you have chronic candida as well. I've just looked it up and there's a long list of possible causes but overall it stated "autoimmune disease". It seems we cannot win. If I find out anything interesting or worth trying I will certainly let you know. Meanwhile its good to know you're there and getting on with life. Take care Iagra x
I have been using Olaplex which stopped my hair breaking because Urso made me look like a moulting dog. Interesting about K2 but I am struggling to take it. My doctor told me I need extra calcium so I took calcium with k2 and it upset my gut.
I’ve been useing olaplex for over a year now it’s not helped me I’m glad it seems too be helping with urs tho
Morning ....From past posts, you may or may not know I do not take URSO. I use a bile salt with no fillers called TUDCA. anyway, I did have some hair thinning awhile ago. For me it was the need to increase protein. As far as Calcium goes, my parathyroid was destroyed when I had my thyroidectomy, so i have to consume 3000 mg daily to stay at a low normal range. Yes, it is a lot, but without it I do not thrive. I found a great product from Rainbow light. They make a food based calcium with the perfect ratio of D3 and magnesium. I also use a K2, but prefer the Life Extension brand. K2 will assist in keeping the calcium in your bones and AWAY from your heart. Be well
Thank you for the comment on Tudca. I'm in the arduous process of finding out if I have PBC in the USA Drs. are very reluctant to think that I have it, inspite of all the symptoms that I have. I have taken Tudca on and off, but wasn't sure if I should, and god forbid I would mention it to a Dr. I think I need something, just to reduce my discomfort, and also to minimize damage until I can get a Diagnosis. Hoping for a liver biopsy next. And if it works as well as Urso, I'd probably opt for it, since no side effects.
I am an 84 year old male diagnosed with stage 3 PBC some four years ago. I have experienced significant hair loss. I have taken 500 mgs and a statin (to lower cholesterol) since then. Either of these drugs, based on my reading, might cause hair loss; I do believe mine is a side effect of one or both of these.
All the best,
Don
That’s 500 mgs twice daily
I read on one of the other PBC sites that some find collagen powder helpful.
