Good evening I am quite confused and don’t understand what are classed as normal blood levels. Any information you can provide would be a massive help. Thanks

Blood levels
It’s a bit technical to explain but your blood results will have a reference range, they get this figure by testing a number of people in a population. If you get a print out of your blood tests you will see the reference range and next to it you will see your actual level. If your number falls outside this reference number it’s considered high or low depending on the test, this is when doctors look for reasons why… a very good web page gives this more clearly,,, always only look at your labs reference range as it varies across laboratories.

Hope this helps a little.
Blood analysis is indeed complex, which is why I heavily rely on my medical professional for guidance. I do find helpful that here (southeastern US) I have electronic access via “My Chart”) the results of my tests including bloodwork. Each result is paired with a display of the normal range considered “normal.”Further, a clickable icon is available for most results, providing further info if desired.
Without that, I would be looking online and questioning my provider, often.

Thank you for your reply. It is really interesting that you have the ‘My Chart’ facility, I far as I know there’s nothing similar here in the UK. I will however question my consultant more vigorously in future. Stay well!
It is nice to have, and the usual procedure after a test is that the facility will IMMEDIATELY post and announce to the patient that it’s there. My attitude is that any advantage we here have, you there should also have it!Best,
