No I couldn't get on with them so I just take iron with multivitamins so it's not so harsh but always very low

Hi Purdy2017

The following is a list of natural sources of iron from foods. Best to avoid the shell fish though which I believe is not necessarily good for those of us with PBC. This may help you build your iron levels. I have taken this list from:-

bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide...

Liver, beef & lamb

Soybeans

Clams, mussels & oysters

Lentils

Kidney beans Tofu

Leafy green vegetables

Blackstrap molasses

Dried figs & apricots Quinoa

Oatmeal, rye Chickpeas

Brewer's yeast Pinto beans

Hi Purdy

I was diagnosed with PBC nearly 16 years ago and have a constant battle to keep my iron up - am about to have another iron infusion next week. My consultant explained a relationship between low iron levels and a chronic inflammatory disease like PBC.

Take care

No, they're fine - read a book, have a cuppa - all over in an hour or so!

Lol true

I believe he explained it this way - that Inflammation may prevent your body from using stored iron to make enough healthy red blood cells, leading to anemia.

I have anemia. I am in early cirrhosis. They said my anemia is a result of my spleen being bad because of the cirrhosis.
