Ever since this all started I can feel my liver now. Not like a pain or anything. It kinda feels like your stomach when you get a hungry.

Is this normal?

I don’t know if it’s normal or not I can feel mine too. I also sometimes have pain in it, get a swollen feeling in it, and pressure even.

Sometimes I feel prickles, sometimes just the feel of something is there, no pain. But, it doesn't resemble the sensation of the "hungry" stomach. I had it for several years. Have been diagnosed with PBC since 2016.

Hungry liver! ,😀I have to admit sometimes I feel like a slight stitch in the right side. I wonder how much of it is psychological. My doctor said I should not feel it. When I eat a lot of fatty foods (health fats) I definitely feel it, like a congestion, the stitch, very full feeling and I can almost taste the fat. I tried keto diet for a few days incorporated bullet proof coffee and it's a no-no for me. Lots of fruit and veg and mostly plant based whole food diet seems the best for me.

How advanced are you? I don't think my one is progressed stage, only on 500 mg urso and got find out early by a random liver function test. No symptoms.

I'm so puzzled by this disease.

I’m still in the diagnosis stage. It’s hard not knowing. The dr doesn’t want me to start meds until I have biopsy. I think that’s an invasive test when there are other test that can be done.

Maybe talk to the pbc foundation re diagnosis for pbc. Biopsy not always necessary.

I had a biopsy two years ago last February here in southeastern NC, and it was no big deal. I have just turned eighty at the time. Today I did sixteen miles on my bicycle, which is about what I ride six days a week. I feel fine.I think you will, also.

My heptologist from IU University Hospital explained it as being not the actual liver that you're feeling. It's the sack around your liver that has feeling. I get pain when I eat certain foods or whatnot. Mine has to do with my liver being swollen so then the sack around it has pressure. It's normal with PBC

Thank you for explaining that to me. Bc I never felt it like this before. I had phantom pains when my gallbladder came out but this is different for sure

I occasionally feel a throbbing in my liver. It was unsettling at first but I’ve gotten used to it.

I have a pretty much continuous sensation of a stitch in the area of my liver which I can feel through to my back. I was feeling this a year and a half before I was diagnosed but had no idea what it was. If I go through a period of significant stress I've noticed the stitch sensation turning into a more significant pain which lessens again once the stress has passed. I don't have the hungry feeling that you describe though. It seems it can vary from person to person.

A “stitch “ feeling is a great description for it too. Because when I read that it made perfect sense. I can totally relate to how that actually feels.

Hi Jess l am 69 and l can feel my liver as you describe. I imagine a lot of us can. Also we are super aware of the liver.

Mention it to your specialist next visit but l don't think it is to much to worry about.

I know you are young and probably busy but do you find time for some meditation and concentrate on that area . Sometimes l find the mind will move along this way and l guess things flow a bit better.

All the best and much love to you Jess.

Thank you for your reply. I have a follow up in December with the GI. They’re going to do repeat labs on the liver. I have so may different anti bodies going on. The dr wants to make sure my AMA-m2 test isn’t a false positive along with my AnA specific test.

In my heart I feel that it’s PBC. Just with how fatigue I am and joint pain and being able to feel my liver. I never could before. So something is going on for sure.

I feel the stitch right under my right breastbone every now and then. I have mentioned it to my doctor but he really doesn't know why. It sometimes feels like I pulled a muscle or something. I let him know just for the record.
