I have protection

My spike antibody for covid vaccine is positive.

My dr said that he still wants me to take my booster vaccine. I’m taking it Thursday. He allowed me to stop my Azathioprine five days before the vaccine and seven days after, then resume 100 mgs.

I was really hoping that he would allow me to discontinue Azathioprine.

My 14 year old is in high School in Florida. Every kids are being sent home for quarantine due to exposure. Being that she’s vaccinated and wears a mask she is allowed to stay in school.

In the UK I am waiting to hear when we will start the booster programme. As and when it is available I will also take up the offer. It is good to read that your 14 year old can continue to enjoy her time in school.

As you are on Azathioprine I guess you are in a more vulnerable group, glad you have a good doctor to take care of you.

best wishes

That’s great!

Can you tell me the exact name of this test? It is difficult to read from your photo. Thank You!

250 is a little on the lower side for antibodies, so a booster is warranted.

Why are you on azathioprine instead of urso, if you don’t mind sharing.

I take Urso as well. I have aih as well as pbc. Lucky me!

I’m not sure how to read the results but isn’t that the greater than sign next to the 250?

I assume you take azathioprine because you have PBC/AIH. Please be careful if you discontinue azathioprine and make sure you have blood tests to check everything is ok. I also have PBC with features of AIH and take azathioprine. A few years ago, having had normal blood test results for a long time and since PBC is not normally treated with azathioprine, the consultant tried to get me off it reducing the dosage from 75mg to 50 then 25. When I stopped taking it altogether my blood test results went haywire. I went back on it but the blood tests didn’t stabilise and I eventually had to start taking steroids again. My blood tests are now normal again and I only take 75mg azathioprine in addition to Urso. We are obviously all different, but please be careful.

My Dr approved temporary stopping AZA. I will stay off for seven more days then resume to 100 mgs. I stopped AZA two years ago the same way for a surgery. I pray that all goes well for me. I am waiting 15 minutes as we speak because I just got my booster.

You obviously have a good doctor who is doing his best to ensure that you have the best response possible to the booster and it is good to hear that when you stopped aza temporarily before you had no adverse effects. When I stopped aza it was meant to be permanent but it didn’t work out but I am grateful that my blood tests are back to normal. I am in the U.K. and we are still waiting to find out about boosters. Best wishes. Keep safe.
