I noticed my liver hurting more than usual in the past month, my abdomen more bloated, and generally feeling not well. I am always severely fatigued and when diagnosed in January 2017, I was already in Stage 2-3 fibrosis, shown on an MRE. My liver numbers were never particularly elevated, the worst my GGT was 550 and Alk Phos at 130. ALT and AST were doubled. I have been on 900 milligrams per day of Urso for 4.5 years. Numbers all went down. Now with this stronger strange pain in liver and bloating, I went to the internist, had blood drawn and my ALT and AST are creeping back up, not doubled but not good, and my protein was a little elevated again. Doc is sending me for an eslastograpy this week, then to UCLA Pfleger Liver Center for my yearly check up in June. Any of you had elevated ALT and AST as a chronic issue even with other numbers in normal range?

ALT and AST?
Hi Claygi,I also have the liver pain. I live in Hawaii and we don’t have doctors in my opinion qualified to deal with PBC (lol and that’s coming from the daughter of a doctor) so I also go to UCLA liver center. In 2015 I had all the positive antibodies but always normal LFTs and yearly ultrasounds. I saw Dr. Saab at UCLA again for the next two years. I haven’t been since Oct 2017 when he told me I don’t think you will ever develop PBC but do the blood tests every three months and yearly ultrasounds. Well my blood test on 2/2 was normal then 4/1 LFTs raised and I was seeing my Gp regularly since 1/18 for abdominal pain. So I put two and two together and said well better start seeing Dr. Saab. So long story short I will be seeing him on May 13. It cannot come soon enough as I need to figure this out get rid of my anxiety so I can get on with living. Although I cannot answer your question since this is the first time my LFTs have been raised. I hope you feel better and take care.
