Finally got a reliable answer

Hello my fellow PBC sufferers, I hope that we are all feeling as well as possible, both mentally and physically 🙏🏻

I did say that I would return when I finally got an answer (reliable answer) to my question regarding Ursodeoxycholic and Bizofibrate and if it was absolutely necessary that they be taken apart from one another (as in dosage)!

The answer that I have received through the PBC foundation is ‘No’ I do not have to take these two medications separately. My pharmacist did tell me that by taking them together the Bezafibrate May diminish the affect of the Ursodeoxycholic and I do tend to believe this to be authentic but other than that I am satisfied that to mix them is not going to cause any side affects in the future , hopefully.

I was also told that it is best to take The Ursodeoxycholic after my evening 🥘 meal.

Kind regards to all,

S.Ballou

It’s good you got a clear answer, I take both medications.

Ive always taken mine apart after the pharmacist suggested I did I don't know the reasoning behind it,. Having had success with the normalisation of my blood results, I think I’ll keep to the same routine.

However I think the most important thing is compliance in taking the medication, in which ever way suits your routine. It’s like my consultant, she still prefers that I take URSO twice daily and not all at once, but if that means I keep forgetting a dose then taking it all at once would be more beneficial to me in the longer term. I do take my urso with meals though, it stops the reflux I get from it. Take care.

They covered this on Thursdays foundation meeting I guess it may have been in response to your question. Hope you watched it. These meetings are so helpful and glad they have decided to stop the vaccine questions as they were taking over the PBC subject.

It would be impossible for me to take the all separate!!! Would need more hours in the day. I take two 4grs sachets of Colestiramina which have to be taken 3 hours apart from my other meds. So I too take my 2 x 500 grs. Urso and benzofibrato together at night. In the morning I take the corticoide and sertralina. Not enough hours in a day!!!! I hate this. Nauseous 24/7. But I’ll the náuseas over the itching any day!!! Stay strong and safe. And keep what works for you.
