I have constant discomfort in my upper right abdomen. I mentioned it to my hepatologist and he said it wasn’t related. I had my gallbladder removed in 2002. I was diagnosed with PBC July 2020 after years of high liver enzymes.
I have discomfort around liver and sometimes very bad gallbladder pain but it goes after 2 hours or so...I have a lot of stones in gallbladder but because I now have full blown biliary cirrhosis I cant have it taken out ...I have taken urso for many years but I should have started it 20 years ago when pbc was diagnosed.
I've been on urso for about 4.5 years. I do have occasionally sharp pain in my upper right abdomen. However, my gastro says that it's not liver. Liver itself can't hurt, unless it is enlarged due to cirrhosis and pushes on other organs, which makes them hurt. If your liver is not enlarged, it's not coming from liver.
Before I was diagnosed, I had been aching in my URQ. After I started medication it subsided. I was told it could be caused by inflammation. I do not have cirrhosis, nor is my liver enlarged. I hardly ache anymore. I do hope you can get relief from it.
When I was first diagnosed, I did notice a slight ache on the right side, right under my rib cage. It basically mostly went away; however, every now & then I feel it sporadically.
My pbc was caught early stage via routine blood work. I didn’t even believe my doctor when they suspected something was wrong. They had to convince and nag me about a biopsy.
