Anyone ever taken Atarax? Side effects? Results?

Got off the phone with my mothers doctor, and he said he was going to prescribe her Atarax and explained it was use to treat adhd but studies showed it may help the puritus symptom. Anyone ever taken this and had bad side effects? Is it safe? I had to get her off Sertraline because they gave her that to try and treat her puritus but her whole personality changed so it was hard to watch. Also I convinced the doctor to put her on a lower dose of fenofibrate rather than the 145mg she was taking which caused her stomach pain so I'm having high hopes for that.

Atarax is for itching nausea and vomiting.... do you mean adderral?

No, the doc specifically said Atarax, and I did bring up puritus which means itching. I'm pretty sure I heard clearly he said Atarax and not adderral.

Never heard of it used that way but it will give a very calm feeling... I’ve used it, works good

I used atarax frequently because Of allergy induced hives . The only side effect was sleepiness. It worked well for me

I think the doctor would want her to take it at night as that's when most of her itching occurs. Hopefully it won't make her drowsy the following morning and throughout the day. Thanks for your input!
