Increased urination with urso

Just wondered if anyone else has experienced having to go to the loo at least twice an hour when taking Urso. Very inconvenient! Last night was up 4 times through the night so disturbing sleep patterns too. Just started taking a couple of weeks ago so maybe just teething problems. Also have nausea, headache and fatigue as side effects. I’m hoping it all settled down by Christmas!

Hi JenniferTh, sorry to hear you’re having side effects from Urso. They do often settle after a few weeks, but if they don’t, might be worth starting again on a much lower dose and building it up gradually.

I hadn’t heard that needing to wee often is a side effect , but maybe others will have experienced this. In case it’s not the Urso, maybe worth having a urine test to rule out a UTI?

Fatigue of course commonly comes with PBC, but whichever it is, with your uncomfortable symptoms, perhaps look for ways you can make adjustments to your daily routine to give yourself an easier time until things settle.

Best wishes.

I also have to wee a lot more at night it seems than in the day, which doesn’t help I can't remember the last time I managed to not have to get up to wee during the night. I’ve been on Urso for 10 years so I don’t think it’s relevant. I know as we age it is common problem but I would check it out with your GP just in case good luck

Hi JenniferTh! I’ve been taking Urso for about 3.5 years now and yes it does make me go poo (if that’s what you’re referring to) often. I wouldn’t say twice an hour. It does also give me headaches sometimes. I only realized (because I get migraines and headaches a lot) when I stopped taking the Urso. My prescription ran out and had to wait to see my Dr. again. When I restarted the Urso the headaches were bad. After awhile though they tapered off. The bathroom problem is still the same I would say though. When I have to go I have to go! Sorry I hope this helps.

Hi Jennifer- I pee a lot, but it could be menopause if you are of age. Our bladders change as we get older. As someone already mentioned, please get checked for a UTI. Request that they culture it. UTI's can also cause nausea, from what I have heard. Not all UTIs cause burning upon urination, so you could have one and not realize it. Good luck and take care. May you find relief soon.
