Red eye question

I am at the clinic because I woke up with a completely red blood coloured eye. Looks like a burst blood vessel but I’m getting it checked out. Is this anything that could be related to the PBC or just a unrelated event? It is uncomfortable and looks horrible. Thanks for any thoughts.

Hi Flower,

I hope you got some help for the eye. I know the tiny blood vessels in the eye are very fragile and having one break does happen and usually a harmless event. By now I hope you have had assurance from medical folks.

Thanks for your reply. I look scary but it’s harmless and will heal on its own. I was surprised. I wonder if it worse due to my dry eyes. Or just getting older. 😃

I had episcleritis which developed in a matter of hours. Had to beg for an appointment with a ophthalmologist as my regular doctor was not available. Prescribed some expensive eyedrops. Eventually went away but I also checked in with my regular ophthalmologist.

I freaked out & sent a note to my hepatologist that same evening. He knew I was worried so wrote back right away. He said, he does not know of any known correlation with pbc, but anything is possible.

I blamed everything on pbc! Ugh!
