Biopsy results, should I worry ?

Can you feel varices at all ? is there any way for me to tell other than waiting for them to bleed ? any symptom they are there ? Biopsy #1 five years ago showed stage 1. Now biopsy #2 in May shows advanced fibrosis, bile ducts difficult to identify, nodular regenerative hyperplasia consisten with late stage PBC. having a MRI July 3. for a better look. Will get to see Dr. Aug. 1

Hi Pheebe I asked a Consultant the same question and she said they will bleed. After this I had an endoscopy looking for coeliac disease (which they found) and I asked them to check for varices whilst they were doing this and at that time there were none. Sometimes whilst eating I have to stop for a while as I get discomfort and wonder if this is the start. If you find out I'd like to know too. Best wishes

Most people in your stage will have an endoscopy to check for varices every year or 2. Ask your doctor about it next visit.
