Hives everywhere

I have the worst case of hives I have ever had. Literally, entire parts of my body (stomach, feet are red, swollen and ITCHY! I went to an allergist and one of the first questions she asked was if I had any autoimmune diseases. Yep. She put me on Zantac and Zyrtec plus Benedryl when needed. What is a good homeopathic sauve or other that I can put on to stop the itching? Have used hydrocortisone cream - not much help. Thanks in advance.

OMG! Have you done anything different or used anything different?

No - I have racked my brain thinking about possible causes. It is so uncomfortable I can hardly stand it!

Yes, it looks miserable. I pray you find relief soon. 😊

Oh poor you. Tepid or cool bath with some bicarbonate of soda may help, or with Calamine lotion? Not homeopathic, but basic and considered safe. Chlorphenamine (Piriton) was the oral antihistamine that helped my daughter when she had something similar. Can cause drowsiness but often the best one for these allergic reactions. Really hope you get some relief soon! You’re being very brave and usually these things resolve quite quickly.

Thank you so much for your help!

Bicarbonate of soda apparently in bath. Chamomile essential oil few drops in bath water. Meant to be helpful in eczema cases, skin probs. I find my daughter’s skin can get hives around this time of the year. Don’t know what the trigger is. Salt water good for eczema too so may help. Hope it soon goes.

wow! I'm sorry. It must be painful and a bit scary. You say "worst you ever had" so do you get this quite a bit?

Yes, I had a bout with hives for several years at the same time I was diagnosed with Hashimotos. But they were gone for almost 20 yrs and now they are back with a vengeance. 24/7 and antihistamines are not helping.

So, I'm guessing you never were able to come to any conclusions about causes? Do you wear any clothes that restrict you in any way at all? Odd question. And most of us do. I ask because though I don't get hives, (haven't yet anyway) I can easily get bloating from a number of causes. When I do, unless I get into something quick, like a kaftan, the bloating causes other unpleasant symptoms which can last for hours or days. I have platelets going downward over 12+ months. I'm due to see haematologist next week. I question if bloating causes pressure on my spleen, (which is slightly enlarged anyway) and this sets off some alarm in my blood. In my untutored opinion, :-) , I suspect the spleen is the source of more upset than I have ever heard mentioned by experts. I'd be really interested to know if any of this rings any bells for you?

No - I do get bloating occasionally - but this is a separate issue. Something has set off my Mast Cells to produce histamine and they are angry. Just trying to figure out how to cope as antihistamines are not doing the job.

I'm sorry you are suffering this - if you can find the time and patience and would like to smile, have a look at this 'natural remedy'

Thank you! I tried to use the link above, but it did not work. I also change the "v" to lower case, but no luck.

Good morning...I pray that by now you have found some relief for what looks like an intolerable condition. I have used the baking soda bathes for itching before and it really helps. Also, calamine lotion kept in the refrigerator is a wonderful temporary relief. So, this sparked my curiosity and I did a little research today. One of the main issues that Naturopathic doctors address the there are skin flare ups is Leaky Gut syndrome. I found lots of articles regarding this. the other they mention is a Vit. D and selenium deficiency.

Sounds like the liver is overloaded with something you might be eating and the liver is sluggish. when this happens, the skin is the other place it tries to release from. They mention too much Omega 6's in the forms of oils. I tried to copy the link, but with no success. If you want more information, search "What causes hives with PBC". It was an article entitled "Urticaria(HIVES) by LIVER DOCTOR. Let me know if you need me to send the entire article via chat. Be well

Thank you so much! No relief yet. I went to an allergist yesterday and she is having me get a biopsy of one of the hives to see if it is urticaria vasculitis. Then she wants me to go on Prednisone. I have noticed that when I go to some doctors, they are afraid to treat me because of the PBC/liver enzyme issue. It makes me feel like I am just a burden to them. I know it's not true, but somehow, I always feel like I am the enigma that is out of the box.

The article i referenced is all about that issue. I sue hope you do not have to take Prednisone...It's so hard on your body. Maybe you can try some of the remedies many have offered. I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. Life is hard enough without extra stuff coming up. Be well

Corkygirl I'm to ashamed to show my body but I've dealt with this same issue I wake up thinking I got bit by spider or ate something but seen an allergist and she said it's all to do with my PBC disease constant itching and breakouts. I've got every lotion and tried all the medications and cocktails cholestyramine DOD nothing, hemp oils and lotion gave temporary relief. Sarna lotion helped temporarily after showers so I keep handy. My hematologist from University of MI mentioned me trying a procedure called plasmapheresis it's an IV you get inserted and it cleans the blood toxins or something and most patients get a month or so 9f no itching. I'd take that as I'm so miserable from this everyday itching ALL OVER. I'm experiencing extremely dry itching eyes so eye dr has me using a couple of over the counter eye drops. I wish you the best of luck and pray for us all with this disease.

Genj65 - I am sorry that you are dealing with this too. Please don't be ashamed about your body. I understand. I didn't go to church on Sunday because I had hives all over my face, eyelids and underneath my eyes. I looked like I had been in a boxing match! It was easier for me to stay home than try to explain to folks what was going on. It can be isolating - it can be frustrating - but I am trying to come to terms with the fact that this is my current reality and it has nothing to do with anything I have done to create it. Therefore, I must do my best to not own other people's reactions (although there are limits - like when my face is all blown up and puffy, I just don't feel like dealing with it publically). I went to the doctor yesterday and wore a skirt because I didn't want pants against all the hives on my legs. The hives were all over my legs and I didn't care. It is what it is. Do something today that makes you feel normal - and then let me know what you did :)
