I’m sorry that’s happening to you. I don’t have itch, but know that when I’ve had bad anxiety attacks, I’ve taken benzos, like Valium. Obviously, you can’t live on those long term, but until you get your transplant, maybe?
Hi melwoods, first sorry you feel so bad with the itch, I can only say I know exactly how you feel having suffered from this myself, I just wanted to let you know about a treatment that I had called plasmapheresis, this really helped me before my transplant, it didn’t take the itch away but it made it bearable, also on the bright side the itch completely disappeared after transplant 😁 for which I will be eternally grateful, take care, 🌸🌸
My consultant didn’t want to do it as there is a risk of infection and could delay the transplant
Glad you are well and ok x
That’s a shame I had plasmapheresis for 2 years before I had the transplant and I never had any bother, I even had it when I was in for my transplant assessment so I didn’t break my routine, short term fix for me was menthol cream kept in the fridge which was temporarily soothing , hope you get your transplant soon xx
I'm very sorry this is happening to you. I wish I knew of something to make you feel better but I don't so just sending you love and hope that you can be strong and know we are all wishing you well xx
Thankyou x
Sorry to hear about the itching. I know how it feels. My itching was bad where I had to shower multiple times at night because I scratch so much. I also did plamapheresis for 6 months to help me with the itching and cholesterol bumps that I had. The plamaphersis for me really didn’t help a lot for my itching like it did for Kate50 but everyone respond differently. I did speak with my dr and I decide to stop it because I had a horrible infection from the the catheter that lead me hospitalized for nearly two weeks. I did have a liver transplant a month ago and I’m blessed for it. It a life changer. After surgery the itching goes away. I hope you will received the miracle call that they find you a lens liver.
Take care and hope you feel better.
sorry to read this, sad that there are no suggestions to help. Now that the law in the UK is changing hopefully there will be more available organs, although I appreciate that someones sad loss enables others in misery to have a chance at life, I hope you don't have much longer to wait.
So sad to read your message Melwoods, have you tried cutting out ALL Dairy products? Good luck with everything....I really hope it all get sorted for you and you find peace of mind. x
I hope you don't have to wait too long. I can't imagine the misery you must be feeling. I'll send up some prayers for you.
Pam
I'm not sure if I have the PBC itch because it goes away so easily. It's always on my lower legs when I get it, it's a terrible, painful itch. I apply a cream called Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream USP. When the itch occurs I spread on the cream and within an hour it's completely gone and stays gone for a month or two.
Sorry to hear that your itching is so bad. I am currently at level 3 for over a year but feel my health declining in confusion and fatigue. AIH/PBC overlap syndrome. I appreciate that others contribute to this forum what helps for them. Hope that you get relief and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers while you are waiting for your transplant.
Kate50 and prettyeyes79 I was wondering if anyone who has had a transplant has posted recently. And there you are! Makes me relieved you both seem to be doing well and continue to be positive. Great suggestions from everyone in the post and I appreciate it very much!
Fresh lemon juice will stop the itch.
How !
just drink it, squeeze fresh lemon juice, some say they take it without being fresh, also natural apple cider vinegar. drink both and I promise the itch will stop.
I drink it every morning
Itch is still sadly horrific x
So sorry, the lemon juice doesn't work for you, I know many that it does, my PC told me about the lemon juice and it did stop my itch but I must admit, mine not much of an itch, just sometimes feel like something is crawling on my skin, not in a certain area, neck /arms and back, not to many other places, the itch is NEVER to the point I scratch it to it bleed, just a small crawling over the skin. Again, sorry, and I hope you find relief.
How lovely a person you are, dealing with such an irritating problem yet answering to everone who replies. You are an example to us all. Thank you.
Have you tried Sarna cream? Also, Benadryl or Claritan? Someone just recently told me Tucks cooling pads works too. Yes, tucks. The hemorrhoid stuff!
