Hi, I was really wanting a proper genuine butterfly tattoo, but after reading the “small print re complications/ due to health issues “I decided against it. I was wondering if it is possible to get a henna tattoo instead ?
I will obviously ask the professional, but thought I would run it past members on here.

I have recently got 3 tattoos as tributes to my recently diceased husband. I have had no problem with any of them. Just follow your tattooist instructions on aftercare.
Henna tattoos are perfectly fine. It's actually good for your skin. I personally don't like tattoos but have a good friend who loves them. Like all over. Lol. She too has health conditions so she uses natural henna. I've had it done before and I have PBC and several other conditions too. Just be sure you get the real stuff, no chemicals mixed in. It will be red in color. The other colors are mixed with chemicals.
Also if you decide to get a real tattoo opposed to the henna. Be sure you visit a really reputable place. There has been many case of Hep C cause by un safe practices.
I’m in the process of having a sleeve on one arm - 6 quite large ones so far & anything up to 3.5hrs work at a time & all ok. No issues at all with any of the healing stages as I am very careful with aftercare. I have stuck to black / grey ink this time just as a preference to the designs. (have had colour in the past). My tattooist works in a very reputable shop & I trust her completely! She’s aware of my health issues as well.

I only reply like this as plenty of replies tell you it's ok so no harm telling you another view! I would ask my doctor, not the tattooist who won't know your status with regard to bloods/immunity however clean the practice. However professional they may seem, a tattooist isn't qualified to tell you that it will be ok for you. And no matter how many people had one no bother, they are not you. The adverse effects, if any, may not be obvious for a long time. It looks like you have some doubts, and are being cautious. Ask yourself if it is worth the risk for you personally? Best wishes
I had a beautiful 3d butterfly done last summer. I had no problems with it. I suggest you go to a reputable artist and make sure the place is clean .

So many say yay, I'm going to risk having another say! An article in British Medical Journal written by a senior specialist doctor at a Glasgow hospital, re-published in daily newspapers, reports this case.
A woman was admitted to his hospital with very severe pain in her leg. All tests, scans etc showed no infection or structural damage. Even so, the only explanation for her pain was inflammation (which was detectable) of the quadrucep muscle over which was a tattoo the patient had done 3 weeks prior. It took 3 YEARS to normalise and much treatment including physiotherapy.
The point here for me is that it was her own body's immune system causing the inflammation in her leg and no degree of cleanly professional tattooist input could avoid that happening. I don't want to scare or spoil anyone's fun - I don't want anyone possibly hurt for lack of knowing all the risks. I feel strongly about the suffering all on this site are going through and just can't help offering this information.

I have a fairy in flight. I got it in 1997 & she’s a little dull but she’ll have to stay that way. I won’t have her touched up. Not sure why I even got one. 😊

I have had quite a few tattoos in the last 2 years since my heart attack and have had no issues with any of them. Really important you go to somewhere very good with a great rep. Spend a lot of time on research and really work out what you want. Follow recovery / care guidelines to the letter and you should be fine. If you only want one tattoo and it is not very big this is no reason to go cheap - better to go expensive and get something really fantastic.
I have a few tats, I've never had any issues with them & I'm pretty deep into this disease. Future tattoo will be my PBC tat.
