So it's Thanksgiving time in America and I just wanted to say how grateful and thankful I am for this fantastic community. And a special acknowledgement to Robert and the PBC Foundation team that sponsor this forum and advocate so brilliantly for us PBC folks.
This forum is exceptional in several ways-
the tone and the respect in the posts,
the factual information that gets discussed and provided,
the ease at which you can search a topic and find many women posting similar experiences etc..
the quality of the folks here- super supportive and caring.
Having a rare chronic disease is no picnic- and so thank YOU all who participate here and share the ups and downs and information and support. I appreciate it. Truly.
Love to all.

Thanks Gritty! It's great to have friends across the pond. 😀 Regarding having lots of fun- one "gift" that PBC has given me is that I don't take good days for granted and I have really shifted priorities..
That being said...
Right now I'm having a small pity party as I have a bad upper respiratory virus that's been keeping me down. I had to cancel going out to my family thanksgiving day meal. But I'm really coughing and congested so best to not get anyone else sick too..
thanks Gail. I'm on day 10 of this virus.. they say its viral not bacterial. My phlegm and cough are greatly reduced but I'm still feeling "off"
Ugh. I'm just "tired" from having the virus.. had to skip family thanksgiving gathering.. but it was for the best. too many cooties in a large group gathering and I didn't want to pick up an additional strain of cough/cold/respiratory. I have to keep reminding myself- this too will pass.
EileenUSA...hopefully yours is on the way out. My congestion has lasted longer than ever before with respiratory. I am on another antibiotic because Dr could still hear something. But if it’s viral then no wonder drugs aren’t killing it. I haven’t really felt too bad through the whole thing, but the heaviness in my head & all the coughing made me tired. I know it’s harder for us to kick this stuff or any other illness. I hope you’re on the mend & feel much better soon. Take care😊🦋
sounds like we are in a parallel universe with this bug. I too have NEVER had a respiratory/congestion thing like this that lasted this long. And like you say-- I've been able to do some things- I mean, I'm not bedridden- but I am dragging and dragging.. I have been able to go out for a 30 minute walk the past 4 days-- I had to be active somehow.. it felt good to move ( I bundled up with scarf across face etc) Today chicago weather is not as cold.. thankfully.
I might go back in tomorrow to get checked.. I dunno. It's just an extreme bronchitis type thing.. and like you the coughing and blowing out mucous has me exhausted. I'm doing steam, tea, mucinex, rest, water... bla bla bla... thanks for the encouragement. I really appreciate it.
Eileen...I was getting a little concerned why it wouldn’t go away. Now I know it’s not just me. Yes, I try & be sure to not let cold air get to my bronchial area. We’re actually having very nice weather for few days. Take care of yourself. If you go back to Dr let me know what he says. 🤗
Me, three! I had this cough issue & sore throat about 6 weeks, thinking it would go away. Anyway, called my pcp for an appointment this morning & got a call back this pm. Turned out the office was closed today, but my doctor actually called me back & asked if I could wait until Monday to see her & gave me a choice of appointment times. Extremely pleased with this new doctor as my ex doctor went concierge on me. My hepatologist recommended her to me. Must remember to thank him again.
ninjagirlwebb...G’morning ☕️. I’m sorry you’ve been fighting this mess too. 6 weeks is quite a run of it. Must be one tough little germ, to linger the way it has. The weekend seems terribly long when you’re not well & waiting for Monday. It’s great you are pleased with your new dr. Makes such a difference. Hope you feel better soon. 😊🌷
I feel good except for the on & off cough sessions. Just want to make sure I am okay by the doctor. Plus I also want to give her a general update on my labs etc. I like my doctors to have updates on me so that they know who I am.
Acute bronchitis often develops three to four days after a cold or the flu. It may start with a dry cough, then after a few days the coughing spells may bring up mucus. Most people get over an acute bout of bronchitis in two to three weeks, although the cough can sometimes hang on for four weeks or more.
Skypony thank you. It really is a great forum. Quality people, easy to use format AND access to solid info on PBC treatments, diagnosis and research. Thank YOU for being part of it!
