Safe Pain Meds for Muscle Pain/PBc
I was told I have polymyalgia rheumatica the only thing that helps is steroids which stinks
I have two friends who have had this, and after a short period of steroids it has gone away, and they are both back to being healthy and active.
However, try not to let all joints and muscles become inactive while you are suffering. The problems another friend has experienced, was that she let herself became inactive during the pain and during and after treatment, never got her fitness back, and soon needed a knee replacement as she had lost the muscle and tissue support around the joints - during her inactivity - that had previously aligned and protected all her joints.
I'm as active as I can be when this is happening there's nothing you can do about it you can hardly move
Hi, Sorry, I didn't mean to be insensitive about the pain you suffer.
With all three of the pals affected by it, it followed the same pattern. That is: the pain was always just when they woke, and then they could hardly move at all for ages. Getting up and getting going was agonising and it took a long time - each day - for them to feel normal. But they were okay later in the day, and this was when 2 tried to keep active.
Hope the steroids work okay for you.
Hi Sdone , i have all but a few of the symptoms of pbc , and over time i have got so painful that i couldn't stand the pain any more , life was pretty miserable and my regular Gp thought that i was suffering from fibromyalgia as well Gp started me off on Tramadol after speaking to my gastroenterologist and he said that i was only to take them sparingly he was not keen on me being on them as the are not good for the liver . 2 weeks later back at the Gp crying the pain was severe and that Tramodol was not helping . So she phoned my gastroenterologist to see if i could be put on Neurotin hard capsules ( Gabapentin ) He was happy for me to take these 300mg 3 x 3 a day . I was thrilled to finally have a medicine that has taken 90% of the pain away and left me with a slightly mild pain that i can cope with . I have looked through the ingredients and it does not have any of the ones you are allergic to . It mention anyone that is Lactose intolerant should contact their doctor . My suggestion to you is go talk to your doctor and ask he/she if you could start on Neurontin ( Gabapentin ) . It is a medicine that works on the nervous system . What medicine has your doctor put you on ? I wish you well and best of luck getting pain relief let me know how you get on Shaza
You should ask your doctor. We do not know the condition of your liver. Lyrica works for fibro. Make sure that is what you have. There are tenderpoints on the body that when you press will hurt. A rheumatologist should diagnose this. Primary care are not good with this illness. Mild exercise is important. The more you move the less you hurt over time if it is Fibro.
Thanku. Over the years I have been put on all sorts of pain meds that my body strongly rejected. So lots of heat n cold therapy and physical therapy n magnesium. No further meds due to liver. However, i have gotten some painful flares lately if something else safe may b out there?
