Blood Donation

Hello, does anyone know if you can donate blood if you have PBC and are taking Urso? It’s not on the list of conditions / medications listed on the NHS site. I have quite a rare blood group, and apparently stocks are low in London so would like to donate if I can.

Hi, I am in the US and I was diagnosed with PBC in 2015 and I still donate blood. The Red Cross said that it was fine it as long as I felt good and wanted to I could donate at whatever stage.

I just donated blood again on July 3rd and since they had new people this time I brought up my having PBC and wanted to make sure it was still ok to donate so the lady called her boss whom I spoke with on the phone and she knew a lot about PBC and said that I could donate at any stage as long I felt well enough and wanted to do so. My doctor didn’t have a problem with my donating either. I will donate as long as I can. My daughter has had two open heart surgeries the first when she was 3 days old and the second when she was 9 years old, she is 11 now and doing great. I am grateful for all who donate and try and do my small part by donating to help others. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
