Cold Sores

Hi , Has anyone had a cold sore in the eye. Very painful. Lasts about a week. Take painkillers and zovirax . Have been occurring for past 6 years . Wondering what brings it on. Diagnosed pbc -aih 9 years go

Hi chasper, Could it maybe be a stye? You would need to be so careful not to get zovirax in your eye. Have you seen a gp? Maybe he/she would give you a more suitable treatment. I get cold sores on my lips occasionally and can imagine how painful it would be on your eye, if that's what it is.

I have reoccurring cold sores on my lip but never on the eye, have you seen your doctor. It sounds awful perhaps you need to be prescribed something more appropriate for that area.

yes its viral and needs to go through its course. Last time it took a week . Seems to happen in our colder months . Maybe a sign of being run down or not enough vitamins. Come summer and all is good. Cause we get cold sores maybe we need to look at the Shingles vaccine. Is it ok for us to get with our condition

Someone else asked about this recently too. Best ask your consultant or tell whoever does the vaccine that you have pbc.
