Dr visit today

Happy to say my dr is very pleased with my labs. I have another lab in one month & if still doing good I will start every 3 months. He said he watches ALP & bilirubin as they are the most important biomarkers in his patients who only have PBC. If AIH overlap, AST & ALT are the main biomarkers. The problem with my thyroid level may be due to PBC not allowing me to absorb the thyroid med. he also assured me I’m in good hands with him. He works closely with hepatologist in Dallas at Baylor Medical & UT Southwestern. If I should progress to cirrhosis in the future, he will put me where I need to be with a dr from one of those large hospitals. One of the hepatologist he works with from Dallas, comes to Tyler once a month. So apparently he skips over our local hepatologist & works with those of greater knowledge & experience. I’m content🤗

Great news

yay good news xxx

Interesting as I have read in liver newsletters UK that besides bilirubin, think it also albumin as a marker too.

Peridot...it is all important but he strives to get ALP to 160 or below & I came down from 240 to 148. He watches albumin as well, & says common for bilirubin to fluctuate. As far as “2” markers , ALP & bilirubin. My albumin is still within normal range.

Peridot...I get so freaking nervous when I go to the dr. I know albumin & bilirubin work side by side, if you will. Maybe he thought I knew this when he mentioned bilirubin. It’s all good😊

If you made yourselfa member of PBC Foundation, look at page 21 of the Compendium. All 3 are mentioned (ALP, bilirubin and albumin).

Yes I am a member. I’m not doubting about albumin. As I said earlier, I’m sure my GI knows that I know they are both important. He never excluded albumin but he stressed ALP & bilirubin.

Thank you. I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to relax with all this. Hope I can find a happy medium somewhere & enjoy life.

Actually I am doing not so good. I've been with prednisone ana azatioprin for a month now and since a week ago I feel awful. I am náuseas vomiting some time and a very upset stomach. Just to think I am going for a few couple of month with this meds make me scared.

I’m sorry. What is the prednisone for? I see several posts about taking it.

I ALSO HAVE AUTOINMUNE HEPATITIS WITH PBC, THE OVERLAP SINDROME, SO I AM TAKING PREDNISONE, AZATIOPRIN AND URSO
