Only problem I had was hives. I was only on 600mg a day. Dr said something in it didn't agree with me. Trying to get Oclavia. Hope your side effects improve. If not, call your dr.

I thought I would let you know that when I first started Ocaliva and when I went from 5 to 10 mg dosage I had an intense break out of hives and itching. However if you don't scratch the reaction goes away faster and in both cases the problem resolved all by itself.

Good luck with getting the Ocaliva.

Can deal with a little itch. Hives is allergic reaction & dangerous. If hives again, I will stop immediately.

I understand your thought process regarding hives being one of the telltale of an allergic response. I was sure when I got them it was an allergic reaction and I know that any ER would have assumed it was an allergic reaction. However Acredo pharmacy will instruct that up to 70 % will have an intense itching response up to and including hives and rashes. For me it has always been short term and tolerable until passes. Just wanted you to know so if it happens you can know others on this med experience it, so it is expected and it won' startle you if it happens and reassure you if it happens it does get better.

I hope this helps.

Hmm, well that's good info. I'll certainly remember it. I just got scared when my top lip got a little thick. Thank you so much. 🤗 just woke up & about to have first cup ☕️. Have a nice day!

My script for Urso was 1 - 2x day, so I was given 2 - 1 mo scripts. I still have one full script, so if for whatever reason he wants me to try Urso again, I have a month supply to start which cost $70😢.

My Dr wouldn't have told me to stop Urso, if hives were no danger. Thanks for the info

Are you taking it all in one go or spacing it out throughout the day?

Twice a day with meals

Thought you might be taking it all at once which isn't advisable at the start. Unfortunately I can't think of anything else. Might just be your body needs time to adjust. You should run it by your doc to see what he/she says. Good luck 🍀

I do not know as I just started it on Friday, but I swear my hair is falling out. Not a massive amount but it is way more than normal. I am very tired and nauseous now but not vomiting. I'm assuming that once my body adjusts to it the symptoms will lessen.

Oh...I lost hair also. Was definitely the Urso. When I stopped it, no more hair loss

I don't want to worry you but if the symptoms get worse have your doc stay closely on top of you LFTs. It is rare but some people with PBC are allergic to Ursol. I am one of them. You will know if you are allergic if your LFTs rise dramatically. Otherwise I agree with what is posted. Give it some time. I still think any one with PBC best chance is with Ursol.

Sachin,

Regarding your UTIs and looking for a natural remedy. I was doing some research and Red Marine Algae came up. Used a lot in Chinese medicine. As long as you have no iodine allergies, I would look it up and see what you think. I think I am going to try it next time I have a UTI. I don't think taking antibiotics every six weeks is great on my gut. I will let you know if it helped me or not.

Hi, I started with Urso in July and I can't tell you it was horrible. I had the same side effects as you. I thought I wasn't going to be able to put up with it. After two horrible weeks, I got used to it. So give Urso a chance

I had side effects when I first started taking Urso, slightly different than yours. I had a splitting headache (which was resolved by taking Motrin for me) I am not prone to headaches so that was a surprise and I knew it had to be related to the new medicine. I also was flushed and hot in the face. I hated that and frankly, if it had continued, I might have stopped taking it. Having my face and hair all sweaty is something I cannot tolerate. I considered it a "quality of life" kind of thing and considered just taking my chances with the disease instead. But it went away. The headaches stopped after about 2-3 days. I can't remember any more and the flushing stopped a few days later. I also felt like the itching was worse but that also subsided. I would say that all complaints disappeared by two weeks. When I mentioned it to my doctor, he was surprised. He said most people tolerated the medicine without problems. I do now but there was definitely an adjustment. Now, I have to say that I have a continuing problem with diarrhea to the point that I don't know what to eat any more - what are my safe foods. I thought it was me but now I would like to know if other people have this issue. Can't I blame it on the medicine? I would almost rather do that than start on a journey with doctors, trying to figure out why everything disagrees with me lately.
