Indigestion probs n autoimmune hepititis
Hello Pussycat, I hope you get answers soon.I wanted to reassure you about the camera down the throat test, I had one a few months ago, to check for varricies.I was also nervous but decided to have it I was worried about a choking feeling. On the day still nervous I found once at hospital it was ok by far the worst bit was waiting.I had sedation and don't really remember too much just the start and injection.I have to have another in a few weeks as am still aneamic and doctors can't find out why,and this time I won't be worried, as long as I can have sedation. So if in the end you have to have this done it isn't as bad as I imagined. In order to have sedation someone had to come with me to hospital to take me home and stay with me at home after the procedure.Jane.
When you say you had sedation were you aware of anything going on or were you actually put under so you knew nothing sorry to be a bit thick I've had other endoscopys but not through throat it's this one that freaks me out x
Hi I remember the injection and the nurse asking me to bite on the guard they put in my mouth to stop me biting through the scope, after this I don't remember anything until the doctor saying I had done well, tolerated the scope well as he put it and no varicies were found.I don't think I was completely out but I don't remember anything about the time the scope was in and didn't feel it in my throat at all.I have to have this done again soon and don't mind before I was nervous but had it as I knew varicies need treatment if you have them so felt I had to, but it was fine nothing like as bad as I expected.
Hope this helps.Jane.
Me too. I'm in the USA. I woke up this morning with it badly. I forgot to take my protonics yesterday. You should call yur Dr. I take the same meds as you. I also have Pbc. My Pbc is under control for now. It's the aih that's showing its ugliness. I'm sure that it could be a lot worse. I'm newly diagnosed. I started with 40 mgs of prednisone and now down to 20 mgs with 50 mgs of azathioprine and 1000 mgs of Urso. I have to drink citrus 🍊 free coffee ☕️ and really watch what I eat. I can only really drink water
The only time I ever took a probiotic was activia and was so ill afterwards I don't know why I can take plain Greek yogurt no problem I'm drinking a lot of water at mo and really watching diet to help with the bloating and heartburn
I am sorry. I didn't mean to say probiotic. I'm just so stressed. My aih is not cooperating with me this week. I take Azathioprine and I take prednisone as well as Urso for pbc. Gerd is a common symptom with the medication. My Dr told me to take nexium at first but that wasn't strong enough for me so he took it to prescription strength. I hope that you get relief soon
It's horrible isn't it jennyhadenough are you in uk I don't know nexium I've had aih for ten years
Yes it's horrible. I
Am waiting for my Dr to get back to me. I was fine. All my enzymes was perfect. My alt is at least dropping. Was 116 at the Mayo. Now it's 87 with my primary and a completely different lab with different titres. But now my ast is elevating. It's 44 with 40 being the high. My Dr at the Mayo Clinic graduated last week and now I have a new Dr. I hope he gets back to me asap like my first Dr.
I don't see mine until aug 22 so I will tell you my numbers x
I stopped taking azathioprine and prednisone together. I started taking the
Hours apart. Could this be the reason that my alt and ast are elevating? Should I take that at the same time again
I was told to take them together in the morning with big glass of water after food
I guess tomorrow morning I will start taking them together again. I have been taking the prednisone and Urso in the morning and azathioprine and second Urso at night. Do you have pbc too? Or just AIH
No I have aih underactive thyroidtransverse myelitis and asthma
Hi jennyhadenough how are you doing
Hi pussycar432, I sympathize ...but steel yourself to have the endoscopy-- you are sedated & your esophagus will be evaluated . You don't say if you're on any medication for heartburn, but the meds you take for AIH can be irritating for GI tract. It's important to get this heartburn situation under control. I had an endoscopy & discover the tissue at the junction of esophagus & stomach was very irritated, was put on medication, had to change diet & diet habits. -- like nothing to eat or drink at least 2 hours before bed, raise head of bed, etc. , take medication to soothe irritated tissue. Good luck
Thanks v much belliver no I'm not on any meds for heartburn as such I have a real phobia about being vomiting/ choking I'm 60 in 4m and last time vomited I was at junior skool around 9 yrs old I feel very nauseous on the imuran n steriods I take for aih I have a number of health conditions most recent a month ago asthma
Hi pussycat432, can ask pharmacist about heartburn remedies that won't interfere with current meds while you decide which treatment options you prefer. Btw, sometimes heartburn can exacerbate asthma and/or symptoms of same (can aspirate fluids from stomach sometimes with bad heartburn) Explain to dr your concerns about endoscopy, he/she should be able to handle Everything to your satisfaction .( your concerns are actually very common.......)
I asked the pharmacist this morning what I could take she said it was best to ask the dr as I have a number of health issues yes when I get to see my dr I will certainly mention my worries about the endoscopy thanks belliver
Hi,
I know this is a bit of a boring reply ... but as well as checking everything with your GP, first, why not check out your diet thoroughly? Just before Xmas, I was having dreadful indigestion and other gut pains, as well as wildly changing bowel habit and bloating and terminal flatulence. The new GP over-reacted and I had to have mega-tests and checks (all clear). But ... after talking to an osteopath friend, I gut out all the low fat yoghurt (as it has extra sugar added) and other stuff that has hidden sugars and simple carbs. I also cut out pomegranate (which I love) as apparently the seeds in these can irritate the last part of the small intestine. Since then I've been fine, but I did have to overhaul my 'supposed' healthy diet to cut out certain carbs - fodmaps, I think they are called. Only a suggestion, but has been brilliant for me.
