GF

Fai9123. I also get that pain from time to time. Its is due to the inflammation of bile ducts (I think) Just a friendly suggestion, try and cut out alcohol. You will benefit from it and also try go gluten free. I found through the years, what you eat, has a lot to do how you going to feel.

Yes good advice Rockie, I find that when I take things that are reportedly good for the liver ie Tumeric, liver tonics etc. I get that pain. I imagine the blocked bile ducts come up against it and cause pain. Milk thistle is OK and I can take that. Hope you feel better soon.

Hello all

I have had pain as well. Had been to the emergency department 2 times and both times told have to wait to see liver specialist as they can't do anything. This has been going on since may 2016. And still waiting for my appoint august 4

Scleroderma has been confirmed in march 2017 bloodwork from year b fore started this hour wry

Told one minutes I have PBC. Bloodwork. Then the specialist says I am a confusing case as PSC was confirmed by an MRI.

Have read and was told u cannot have both. So if that's the case why don't they figure out which one I have so I can get on with living. This sure is hell most days at the moment. I do hope there better ones ahead. Without the constant pain and achy feeling I have in my gut. Usually for about tHe first 5-10 minutes of waking I don't feel anything yet. But as soon as I start to move then it starts. Achy, abit of pain and some days now have growing up before it was almost every day. Have lost lots of weight but doctors don't seem to worry. Maybe it's just me??

I have been having pain and feeling of thickness under my right rib these past couple of months, have been to my gp and she reckons its my gall bladder and i await a referral appointment for an ultrasound scan. I have scleroderma and raynauds, lung fibrosis and am taking methotrexate. This feeling is soo uncomfortable and achey!! I dont drink any alchohol.at all and stick to a gluten free diet. Is this just another complication i have to deal with!!

I have the same pain & was told by my heptologist that is most likely from the liver becoming enlarged. It isn't the actual liver itself because there aren't any nerve ending in the liver but it's the area around the liver. The sad thing is that there isn't really anything that can be done for it. I ended up in the ER on April 10 because of it. Sad but true, just another issue we PBC'ers have to deal with. :-/

Pain in the upper right abdomen is usually linked to gallstones. I have the occasional episode and my consultant told me if the pain gets unbearable and it lasts for longer than 24 hours then I should either come to the liver clinic or A&E.

I had my gall bladder out many years ago, and still have the pain. It's seems that right upper pain is normal for pbc for a number of patients according to literature

All I can go on is what my consultant told me, and that was that the pain was from a gallstone moving about, obviously if you have had your gall bladder removed this isn't the case!!!
