Painful aching legs

Hi

I am hoping that someone could help me with any ideas as to how I can ease the pain and aches that I have in my legs. It starts at my hips and goes all the way down and no matter if I'm sitting or standing it never eases. If anyone has a solution I would be very grateful painkillers just don't work at all

Thanks

Hello,

I would recommend having your vitamin levels checked. I used to get leg cramps and found I was low in potassium. I dont know if you have cramping, but worth checking out.

Thanks for the reply. I do get cramps all the time in my feet and calves. I have got to see my specialist in August so I hope I can cope until then. Just don't know what to do with my legs at the moment

Thanks again xx

Hi jane. I was wondering would it be a sciatica nerve pain ? It sounds very like it I suffer from that all the time. It's usually a problem with your disc area in your bk even though you don't feel the pain there it transfers it down your legs like a dull achy numbing pain. If it'd persistent I get a deep tissue massage. But I also rub a pain relief creme on my bk and take ponstan for it this usually helps. Also if you get a tennis ball and press it to a wall with your lower back moving from side to side its a great exercise to take the pressure off the nerve. Hope this is helpful and you feel relief soon xx

I try light yoga or stretching exercises and they seem to work a little for me. But checking your magnesium and potassium levels could be of use as well. But if it is sciatica, then I guess it is a different story. Hope it will get better for you soon. Once you see the specialist, he might shed some light on it.

Hi Jayne 1863,

Just a couple of practical ideas for you. Get a really comfortable mattress so your hips dont bear more pressure as you try to sleep.

In australia there was a study on liver disease and cramps - a mineral supplement Taurine was the answer. I also take vitamin K now, and agree with the bananas and exercise stretching ideas too. Keep walking and moving your body. Even if it hurts at first. 5 mins a day and work up to longer as soon as you can. Keep your muscles strong.
