Liver biopsy

Do you get a choice in which biopsy you want to get cause I want a laparoscopic biopsy because I can't sit still and I canyt handle pain. I had implannon in my arm and even with the local anthestic I could still feel the pain and I could barley handle that. And if not do you get a choice in the anethesia part?

Hi vickpothead I haven't heard of a liver biopsy being done by laparoscopic before ! Try not to worry the procedure sounds more Frightning than what it is firstly you can have a bit of sedation to help you relax then some numbing cream before they inject the area to become numb you will feel a stinging sensation but this soon passes after that you don't feel anything it will be over before you know it ,some people get what is known as referred pain that you feel in your sholder and you would have pain killers to help with this .the incision is minute and soon heals .hope this helps x

liver biopsy is done by syringe needle like blood drown out from ur vein. it hurts little after u worn out from anesthesia .. i just took 12 hrs rest and im good to go but for some people they might have to bed rest couple days. you will be all right and good luck.

P.s. getting the local anaesthetic stung bit was over in couple of seconds whole thing only took about ten minutes. Was sore after it but nurses gave me plenty of pain relief and that helped greatly. Was totally fine about hr after only little tender if laughed etc. Express all your fears to staff when u go 4 it they wil keep you right. Bfn. X
