Yes you're put under, and when u come to u can't believe its' all done. U don't feel a thing.

I've had one and I wasn't put under. Huge big needle. Lived to tell the tale. It was fine. A bit uncomfortable but fine.

I had liver biopsy 12 years ago done in the xray dept as scanned first with local and pain killer also lived to tell the tale , it was large gun type needle. Little uncomfortable but ok

I had one five years ago, i didn't feel a thing after the local was put in, All I heard was the click of the thing he took the sample with, Mine was late afternoon so I had to stay overnight and lie on my side for 4 hours afterwards, I didn't have any pain afterwards either.
