Blood test results: Hi I was diagnosed last... - PBC Foundation
Blood test results
Anything which is highlighted or marked with an H is out of the normal range. You will see your result then the normal range under every test result. Just make your own judgement about how far from normal or not results are, then if you are concerned talk to your GP about it.
Wow, that's quite a wait for blood test results. I agree with what Judyt says. It you want details of the relevant chemicals, and the guideline figures for normal and abnormal, check the details in the PBC Foundation's file on PBC. Hope that helps.
Hello kieraferret.
I requested my print-outs of blood results just after diagnose of PBC Dec 2010. I think in the early days of PBC you tend to take the results in more than you do with passing time. Well that is me now, I just glance and then look what is flagged with an exclamation mark as abnormal, make a quick calculation from last time or another one in the past, then file them away.
If you are in the UK like I am then normally a GP puts a short note on the results that you can see on the print-out. My GP noted one in the full blood count (FBC) back in early November, the HB that had dropped another one point below normal (it was standing at 2 at the time) and rang me up. (I went in for ferritin, B12 and folate blood tests then (all came back normal but GP reckoned ferritin though coming out normal was a bit low so had iron tablets for 2 months).) The remainder of my results that are not normal, they were messaged as, "Ok for this patient".
Apparently there is a different graph for PBC blood results and the normal range is outside someone who has nothing wrong with their liver area.
If you are puzzled about anything then ask your doctor but for me I found in the beginning there was no point as I think you need more print-outs over time to see the changes if you have started on urso and also you may find then you stumble across something you want to ask about.
Thank you all that certainly helps x
