I have a library in my phone email, lol! They run it...I research it & save to my email. You might do the same to get the full understanding of each one.
I have just looked back over some of the copies of my blood test results and cannot find anything which looks similar to your autoimmune profile. Has a GI or hepatologist confirmed your PBC yet?
If no one on here can help you I wonder if you might telephone or email the PBC Foundation as they have access to medical support and you will then get a better idea or book an appointment with your GP for clarification.
Hi, I agree with Butterfly. I've never had a results list like this.
I would ask the PBC Foundation people.
The anti-PDH abs (M2) might relate to the presence of the AMA (anti-mitochondrial) sub-type M2, which is the sub-type of AMA most associated with PBC.
There are about 7-8 different sub-types of AMA, [AMA-M1 ... -M2 ... -M3 etc] and each is linked to different autoimmune conditions, with AMA-M2 being the one most linked to PBC. However, although AMA-M2 is a strong 'indicator' of PBC, it 'alone' is not enough for a diagnosis of PBC. They need to be running regular liver enzyme tests as well, to see if these are abnormal in a way that is typical of PBC. If there is still doubt, then the only third way to diagnose PBC is a liver biopsy, which is fine.
Just having AMAs (M-2 or not) is not - on its own - enough for a diagnosis of PBC. I have had AMA- M2 since 1992 (maybe all my life) but I don't have PBC. Some people just have the anti-mitochondrial antibodies, but never get a condition. Loads of people have the RA factor, but never go on to get Rheumatoid Arthritis.
However, I may be wrong in my 'guess' about the meaning of the anti PDH abs, so do check with the PBC Foundation people.
Above all, try not to worry. Chill, de-stress, try to do things you enjoy. Stress is the worst for all autoimmune conditions, so have fun, treat yourself, do things you love.
Awe! Thanks for that! I have the symptoms of extreme fatigue and nausea which was why I went to Dr in the first place. Have been treated for under active thyroid for 25 yrs but bloods ok for that. Hope to see a specialist soon !
Gritty reads would you be able to find out what antipdh is my ama is positive but antipdh is negative i have elevated alk and igm is 3.7 hepatologist has stated in her report that the antipdh is a confimatory test for pbc anyway she has started me on urso to see if my blood levels come down
I have contacted pbc foundation but they havent got back to me yet
I don't recall much (if any) talk of antipdh in the various articles and research papers, on PBC, that I have read in the last 10 years or so (most of which were published in that period). Plus, I have just googled 'anitpdh' and the top finds only have the term being used in research papers from the early 90s. As this is so old - in terms of the fast moving world of medical research into 'autoimmune conditions' - I would be unwilling to trust them to voice an opinion.
Sorry to disappoint, but I think you have to wait until Robert - or someone else at the 'PBC F' gets back to you. However, please do let us know what he says, as I've got a hunch/opinion from my scanning of the Google finds, today, but it's not good enough to voice.
Another possibility is to post a whole new question to the 'PBC F' site, here on 'Health Unlocked' and catch a whole new audience of people who will reply. As this (above) is an old post, not many people will be coming in to look at it - if any!
If you ask a fresh question, specifically about what 'antipdh' is, then someone who has gone though the same confusing diagnosis as you, may know for sure. However, I would not trust any answers which are just guessing, surmising, mere opinion ... or using old research work.
Sorry I can't be more helpful.
PS I would post soon, as traffic on here will probably slow down as we get closer to Xmas.
I mentioned it in my reply to Joel31 (above) because he had mentioned it in his actual post (at the top, 4 months ago), but this was the first time I had heard of it. As I made clear in my reply to Joel31, I didn't 'know' what it was, I just wondered if it was related to AMAs, because of the mention of -M2, which is the sub-type of AMA most linked to PBC.
In my reply to Joel, and to you above, I'm just surmising. I would check out the PBC Foundation website, or talk to them for more exact info on what antipdh is.
Today I saw gastroenterologist. He says my liver is NORMAL. Despite AMA suggesting PBC. Thank you for support....need to find out what can be wrong causing fatigue and nausea. Good luck folks.
I'm also seeing a GI. My internist did ultrasound which was perfect. High M2 sent me to GI. He followed up with fibroscan & im glad he did. Hope all goes well for you🙏🏻
