Sorry I cannot fully answer your question Perkywerky76 but I can fill you in on some of the things I might do when I am with freetime at home whilst my husband and son are at work.

I started letter-writing back in the late 1980s when my late first husband took ill. I advertised in a "Mother & Baby" magazine and also replied to some of the advertisers in there and it went from there. 20 odd years down the line I still have several good penpals and also some are now good friends having met over the years. Unlike reading I find for some reason I don't feel the prickles when sat down writing or even typing a letter as if I was to sit and read a book for eg.

I like messing about with embroidery thread but I don't do embroidery! I am forever adding buttons, a bit of hand-sewing, etc to bags and various other useful materials. I love jewellery and sometimes get it all out and spend a good couple hours cleaning it as most is silver and it tarnishes quickly I find.

i am presuming you are in the UK? I know years ago there used to be adverts in local papers for home-workers but it never paid very much. Envelope address writing was one that was popular. Not sure now if a lot of this exists due to new technology.

Have you tried contacting any Job agencies or perhaps the Job Centre to ask if they can find any information with regards to this? Are you near any charities which you might perhaps consider. I have done and do charity work over the years myself in-between jobs and prior to remarriage in my spare time outside paid work. I know that Age UK do a volunteering service where volunteers visit retired people at home, drop in for a chat and a bit of company.

Interested to find out if you manage to find anything regardless of what. Please keep posting.

Thanks for your reply, I was diagnosed 3 years ago and then I was made redundant from my job as a stock room advisor in November 2012 ( i used to send out parcels and do stock takes, did a lot on the computer and telephones- so it wasnt strenuous ). I then got a cleaning job as couldn't find anything suitable but I was so fatigued at the end of each day as I was going straight to bed and didn't even have the energy to make the kids dinners!! ( I have two teenage girls) I had to give that up as i just couldnt cope. I then went on to try and find work and got two job offers but became ill and had to go to hospital so had to turn them down and then I gave myself a rest and I got the ESA and DLA but I feel useless now - I'm happy I have more time to do housework and make sure the kids have everything done but i would just like something to do for myself each day so I'm earning a little cash as its a struggle not getting much in . The problem is I'm quite far advanced so I'm

Constantly at the hospital for one thing or another so I don't think actually finding a job outside the house is a good idea as I'd feel I was letting people down as I'd be forever having time off but there must be something for me to do at home. I'm 37 and I must be the only person I know that doesn't work. I have thought about charity work so maybe I need to look into it more. But I was hoping to make a little but of cash as I'm finding the bills very hard to pay . I don't know - thank you for your reply - I know I need a little hobby too so ill look into that also.

great question! I am struggling with the same thing. My daughter has told me about work that can be done via the internet - blogging for tech companies, that kind of thing. You obviously would need to have some specialist skills for that. she has also told me that there are other companies that provide that kind of work but she hasnt yet elaborated on where i can go for that kind of information

I know that there are some insurance companies that recruit homeworkers to deal with on line and telephone enquiries. i will try and find the names of some for you. Good luck and if you find anything, please come back and tell us

Oh yes please find out the names - telephone or anything mundane on the computer would be fine, stuffing envelopes, anything!!!! Thank you

I was recently made redundant thankfully found another one quite soon, I signed up to job sites on line and there was a few advertised for home workers doing stuff on computer, might be worth a look :-)

would you mind driving around?

No driving wouldn't be a problem I don't think - I just worry that I have so many hospital appointments that I may let people down - that's why from home I could work around it ?

Look into Forever living products UK website! This is what I'm going in for if I ever lose or leave my job! Take a look on they're web site.... They're always looking for people to work from home, and there does seem to be potential if it isn't already in your area. Good luck, let us know your thoughts?

I try Avon but there are so many reps where I live, I seem to put alot in and don't get enough back! I'm giving up with it soon.... It's harder than you think finding regular customers.. plus you need to put an order of £80 in every three weeks before you earn 20% commission.... I often don't earn nothing... In fact it costs me money doing it... petrol and stuff! But I know you can earn good money if your area isn't already swamped like mine x
