My symptoms are pins and needles in my left hand feeling exhausted breathlessness and not being able to think clearly.Sometimes I have no symptoms but at present am experiencing the above symptoms and am unable to work.
I have been diagnosed with pernicious... - Pernicious Anaemi...
I have been diagnosed with pernicious anaemia and have 3 monthly injections of b12 what can i do to relieve symptoms
Hi Jessica...like the majority of us...we're striving to have the guidelines changed. 3 months is far too long for some of us...me included. I held out for 10 weeks last time and I was feeling aweful...told the nurse I couldn't wait the full 12 weeks and she didn't seem to mind at all. She is very supportive as she has a sister with PA and sees first hand how it affects people.
I'm starting a new job next week...just hope and pray I can keep my PA in check for another few weeks before my next injection.
All I can suggest you do is speak to your GP and see if they will reduce the waiting time to 8-10 weeks to see if there is an improvement over the next few months.
Good luck ...Michelle
Hey Jessica, how where you diagnosed? I thought PA was active b12 deficiency and as active b12 does not go into the bloodstream I can not understand how anyone would prescribe injections for this disorder.Regards Tracy
Hi Tracy, I had blood tests and these diagnosed a B12 deficency and i have an injection of Hydroxocobalamin 1mg/ml,1ml ampoule every three months.About a year ago the doctors did another blood test to see if i had PA and it came back positive. The symptoms i have which seem to recur are extreme tiredness, breathlessness, aches in my lower back and pins and needles in my hand.Regards Jessica
