Vitamins and Parkinsons

pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articl... is mostly a list of vitamins that have been studied as affecting Parkinsons.

One for the boffins.

I was looking up stuff on PINK1 and PARKIN pathway in mitochondria. Way over my little brain. But it struck me how similar the issues were with the stuff on cancer I was looking at the other day. The role of B12 in 'off switch' and autophagy dead cell clearance.

In Parkinsons disease damaged mitochondria aren't cleared from cells.

Non functional immune system T cells.

They've known the power of B12 in the body for immune response for a long time. It does make you suspicious of conspiracies!

Excuse my late night incoherent rambling. I don't quite know why I do this, when it's all really beyond my ken!

Thanks, my father and my cousin (on dad's side) both have Parkinson's, don't get me started on suspicious of conspiracies of any link to PA, that is already in the back of my mind. I look forward to reading it.

I unfortunately can ramble when I am tired or low on B12 and have come to the conclusion that I should keep very quiet at these times. I am grateful for your rant regardless.

Well known that there is a link B12 deficiency & Parkinson.

Yes I realise. I think my point was a more broad one about the function of B12 to clear damaged mitochondria and cells, as part of the recycling of protein components. Protein being a catch all for a huge variety of body bits, bobs, enzymes, the works. I guess the more I'm learning, the more I'm incredulous that Doctors don't get the importance of it.

Unless we have degree level education in human biology, physiology, pharmacology & biochemistry its very unlikely we can either understand it or contribute towards a constructive discussion.
