I'm looking for research papers relating to the effectiveness or otherwise of cyancobalamin tablets.

It is important - very important.

My apologies marre, if you posted this link already.

Btw, I just found a DOOZY of an article, "Neuroenhancement with Vitamin B12—Underestimated Neurological Significance" - mdpi.com/2072-6643/5/12/503... - part of a special " B12" issue from "Nutrients".

Absolutely EVERYTHING you (never) wanted to know about B12 deficiency explained clearly, including hard-to-find neuro dosing guidelines (I'm beginning to seriously dislike that word!).

Where were you with that last week...? Hm!

Germany again, I notice.

Okay, so far my only argument with it is they are saying cyano, hydroxo and methyl are all the same. One would beg to differ...

Wanna hear something funny? I read a study from Ben Gurion U. where they gave once daily injections of your hydroxy to treat B12 deficiency in 2 undernourished psychotic teens. Did you catch that? NOT cyano . Hydroxycobalamin! I brought that study to my GP and asked her to prescribe hydro for my son who seemed to be at a plateau from getting only cyano injections, despite the additional sublingual methylcobalamin.

Well, I may as well be searching for the Holy Grail. Are you ready for this....? I can't get the stuff from a regular pharmacy anywhere for love or money. I need "special permission" from the health fund!

(Pssst...wanna swap meds with me?)

Germany???? Good guess, but no cigar. I live halfway between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem ;)

Could you have the methyl crystal shipped from the UK and mix it up with saline at your end?

That 'methyl crystal' looks quite bad, doesn't it? Maybe 'powder' - ohh, maybe not.

I know what I was thinking of 'crystal meth' ...

Not that you want that shipping... obviously.

Ana_conda profile image
Ana_conda in reply toPoppet11

Nope. Not unless I want to do serious time behind bars ;)

Poppet11 in reply toAna_conda

Right. We'll start again -

Have you considered buying the little bottles of powdered methylcobalamin from England?

I do not think there would be problems shipping abroad.

But then you would have to purchase some saline solution to mix it into an injectable form.

But it is a possible solution?

Ana_conda profile image
Ana_conda in reply toPoppet11

Hmmm...don't think so. Never was the Doctor Frankenstein type :D Isn't it sold ready to go in little glass vials like cyano ?

Poppet11 profile image
Poppet11 in reply toAna_conda

Ready to go? Like chips? (French fries to you).

No. Because in the UK you need a prescription for anything in injectable form. Like you do in the US.

Dry methyl is much more convenient... and accessible.

Ana_conda profile image
Ana_conda in reply toPoppet11

Really??? All prescription injections are sold pre-mixed in little glass vials.

And no, never tried injecting chips. :D

Poppet11 profile image
Poppet11 in reply toAna_conda

You could try chips first? Would be easier to get in your location.

Well, normally, yes, that's how injections are normally sold but in this case there is this fascinating little development.

You could buy a job lot of the stuff from China ... but I'm figuring if you don't like the idea of the UK then you'll like China a lot less.

I'm liking it less already...:/

It works...

It is from a lab in the UK - it's not like a back-street thing.

We don't have 'dealers' or anything...

Btw, did you sign the petition demanding to allow sale of B12 over the counter in the UK??? They're short another 900 signatures. change.org/p/ian-hudson-ple...

B12 is also sold in pre-filled syringes. Rather more expensive but some might feel it worth avoiding the need to source three products separately.

Poppet11 profile image
Poppet11 in reply tohelvella

I did not know that.

I'm not even going to ask the specifics...;-)

helvella in reply toPoppet11

From the same German source that several people already use. I think they do hydroxo and cyano but not methyl.

Towards £5 a shot.

Poppet11 profile image
Poppet11 in reply tohelvella

Sorry, Helvella I read your other post as if it was methyl in syringes.

We wish!!!!

Methyl is available - but I do not know about the cost and legal niceties. For example, there is an Indian company that seems to specialise in the pre-filled syringe market. Minimum order might be an issue! :-)

infugenpharma.com/internati...

Other pharmacy sites in several countries offer methyl in pre-filled syringes but I have not gone far enough in finding out if they would supply the UK in the modest quantities an individual might need.

Apparently one can buy methylcobalamin ampoules from germany, from: arnika-apo.de/

Methylcobalamin Ampullen zu 1mg /10x1ml

But its not visible in their online shop so one has to send an e-mail asking for it..one will have to contact them, see:

Hope this is of some use , I have no idea if it works, people from the dutch forum get their methylcobalamin by post from them apparently.

They have both methyl and adenosyl-ampoules.

Adenosylcobalamin als Ampullen zu 1mg / 10x1ml

Methylcobalamin als Ampullen zu 1mg /10x1ml

Can be kept at room temperature, so can be send easily with DHL.

They make them themselves.

Shippingcosts around 15 euro's (Holland)

Per 10 ampoules the price is 27,50 euro.

To order: send an email with the order, name and full address to:

versand@arnika-apo.de .

You then get an email with info how to pay, and after you have paid you'll receive them around a week later (EU)

A group of Dutch patients use them. They are only 1 ml and very easy to inject.

They also have methyl as 10mg and adenosyl as 5mg.

Not what you're looking for?
