People that know me on the forum will know it's been a long wait to be screened by a gastologist. After a Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy plus an MRI Crohns disease is suspected. A large part of my colon was seen to be inflamed especially around my illium which now explains my B12 deficiency !
I had never heard of Creeping Fat 'sounds like something out of a horror movie' but apparently we all have this fat which can attach its self to the colon if inflamed. It's the layer of fat between muscles and our organs.......... pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articl...
I thought other's might find this of interest. Consultant is going to trial me on a 6 wks course of steriods for Crohns. If no improvement then he is going to take me in overnight and carry out a Capsule Swallow.
As if I havn't enough fat without having Creeping Fat as well. 🤔
Maybe I am turning into a Telly Tubby ! Some would say I have always been a bit Dipsy.

Oh Jillymo , you’ve quite enough to put up with already . It’s good to have an explanation, and I hope that the treatment works for you . Very best wishes
It is nice to know as to why I am deficient but it has made no difference to the amount of B12 prescribed ! There is no surprise there.
The treatment should help with the inflammation but apparently does not resolve the Creeping Fat ! Hey, maybe I am in need of liposuction. 😂
When I thought things couldn't get any worse, I suffered really bad vertigo ! I have an appointment tomorrow to see if I have Menieres Disease. What ever it is it's worse than the Creeping Fat and I can quite happily live without it. I have got to go to the Balance Clinic on the 10th of March for further screening.
The gastrologist has been rather long winded to say the least. Apparently the creeping far is characteristic of Crohns. I thought he was being judgemental when he mentioned creeping fat l nearly blurted out ' have you looked at yourself recently' but he went on to explain it's a different sort of fat.
I can live with the creepy fat bit the vertigo spinning is very difficult to contend with. How I havn't fallen is beyond me. Lets hope tomorrow sheds some light but I think it will all depend on the balance clinic for the outcome. The Crohns as more or less been diagnosed. My eldest brother has suffered with it for many years so it runs in the family.
I am almost beginning to feel sorry for myself here. Its a good job I have a sense of humour. 😂
One of my year 11 girls at work has Crohns. She’s had a really rough go of it.
A sense of humour (dark or otherwise) is definitely needed with chronic illness! You have to laugh, otherwise you’d just cry. Although, my counsellor has frequently given me homework of “have a good cry” and it does actually help quite a bit 🤷🏻♀️
