feet and hands pain in the evening after 2 1/2 months EOD inj.

hello everyone,

I read a post not long ago and I can't remember where or who wrote it but it was about why the feet and hands are farther from the spine so that's why they have the pain? it was something like that. so

my feet get sore in the evenings and fingers are starting to get sore as well. maybe because the injections are starting to work on me more? I'm 2 1/2 months in EOD inj methyl b12. and during the day my feet are for the most part good. thank you for your comments.

I think early days .Nerves are waking up.

I'm assuming you've had other tests ruling other things out too.

Maybe try cyanocobalamin as more widely available in the U.S

Some benefit from less side effects.

From reading on here most side effects were from methylcobalabin .

Just something for you to consider if struggling .

I've only used hydroxcobalamin as most widely used in the UK

My friend in Canada has tried 3 sorts of B12 injections.

Settled back to the cheaper more available cyanocobalamin .

She said mentally less anxious and wired off methylcobalabin.

All sorts of Cobalamin work .

Sometimes different additives/ preservatives of any sort also csn add to symptoms.

Keep a log of any trial.

I did with frequency of injections.

Took me years to settle on a b12 injection frequency .

But that's me.

All different .

thank you Nackapan,

I have been praying on this Methyl b12 if it is the correct B12 for me as I'm new at all this. well maybe I needed to read your post as an answer to my question in my prayers this AM is that maybe I should try cyanocobalamin. well I'm so afraid to mess anything up. I'll have to see about getting the strength to try it.

Helping yourself here is the way forward? Mentally and Physiocally..

But if you are having B12 injections EOD then you are on a good treatment and it just takes time. You can help yourself with exercise, good foods and the right B vits and Folate etc?

My Endo told me the evening pains/tingling "awareness" happen as you sit more / rest more, and are more aware of them. In addition, they can well be healing tingles/pains.. :-) Having patience and gathering your own calm, in your own way would be worth considering. Wishing you well.

Oh yes and on a blood test a while back I showed to have mthfr gene and was reading I should take methyl b12 only but I'm now reading how it is such a controversy on if it is really necessary or not. I had no idea there was more than one b12 I thought oh ok great I just need b12 but wow it's a whole other world.

my thoughts are, stay the course. 2 months in is just the beginning.

It takes 1 - 2 years to get 70-80 percent better.

And that depends on each individual, the frequency of injections, how low you were before the first injection, the cause (diet or inability to absorb when taken orally), and other things.

What was your serum b12 before your first injection?

I believe it was 270 and it could have been lower at times when I did not know what was wrong with me.

That's definitely low enough to have those symptoms.

What is the cause? If diet as in not eating foods with enough b12 daily, then after some time on injections oral supplements will work. However if you eat plenty of meat and eggs, then it's some inability to absorb b12 orally. In this case it may take much longer.

Either way it takes 4 years to deplete the stores of b12, thus it will take a long time to get better. 1-2 years.

yes just a month ago I found out I had the antibodies for PA so now everything makes sense. so I will have to inject. I just have been on the methyl b12 but have been wondering if I should change to cyano, it seems and I have read that it is more stable and now I just was told that you should use adenyso cobalamin with the methyl b12 so thats another thing I would have to get and where I live it's hard enough to get the methyl b12 in my town we don't have it. so I have to get it shipped and twice it has shown up hot and the ice was melted.

no. i use cyano but only because I tried hydroxo and felt different with it and was concerned that I would loose ground. also it's hard to get in the US, so I just stayed on cyano. some people have had great success with methyl. I wouldn't say stop mehtyl. whatever form of b12 you are injecting will take 1-2 years. I recommend daily or EOD at a min until all the symptoms resolve.

hello b12life,

I was reading what you went through in the beginning you have made amazing progress. Yes I will keep EOD for now and see how I do in the later months if I try to change or not. I was wondering were you able to keep working and so on during your first months of injecting? your recovery is so inspiring. thank you for sharing.

Yes, I was able to keep working but only because I had a good employer. I was very lucky.

I'm so greatfull for everyones stories as I knew nothing about this whole B12D and PA. thank you for all your help.

The fatigue is real! It will take a year or more to regain energy, until then you must be scale back on tasks. Really be smart about prioritizing and be very good to yourself about letting things go. If work is the most important thing, put all you got there and the rest can wait. Do as little as possible

Be good to yourself as in give yourself a lot of self love and patience.
