where to buy b12?

hi all,

I did search previous posts but am wanting the most recent info from the USA…where are people buying B12 injections? My doctor is only willing to give me shots 1x/month but I feel my symptoms start back at the 2 week mark so I’m thinking I might need to find a way to SI at the halfway point. I have no experience with this and no knowledge other than the fact that I can’t get B12 without a prescription in the US. Any help or resources would be greatly appreciated.

You can easily obtain B12 ( Cynocobalamin ) from Canada without a prescription . ( It’s an over the counter item in Canada. )

canadadrugsuperstore.com have single use ampoules and needles

canadapharmacyonline.com

canadianpharmacyworld.com

canadadrugsonline.com 10ml, 30ml vials and ampoules

canadawidepharmacy.com ampoules .

Best wishes from U.K.

It’s a shame this isn’t OTC in the US! If it has no overdose/upper limit, I don’t know why they’re so protective over it 🤮 thank you for your response!

How many doses does 10ml/30ml give you? I’m not even familiar with how much is the normal dose. I’m sorry to ask so many questions!

standard cyanocobalamin dose is 1000mcg. You have to check the strength to find the volume to inject. Methyl and hydroxy are retained more, so an equivalent will be about 500mcg for these, although often these are injected at 1000mcg but at a lower frequency. Good luck!

I'm in the US too. When I look on some of the sites you've listed, they say "Prescription required." So how can we get it then without one?

How strange , as a prescription is not required in Canada for b12 injections . Just use the sites that don’t need a prescription.

Fluffyfloo profile image
Fluffyfloo in reply to wedgewood

That's only the first one on the list, it looks like. I hope they don't change to requiring one too.- It looks like they're the only one on the list not requiring one now.

I am in U.K. and I discovered those sites sone time ago . As far as I know nothing has changed and so i am quite shocked to hear that .

Try b12-shot.com as suggested by a member from USA .

I’m really sorry if I have given you wrong information. Absolutely unintentionally . Maybe something has changed . in Canada .

I suspect the change may be due to the fact that buyers are often from countries where an RX is required so perhaps they are trying to assist other countries in having their rules adhered to. Again, part of my fear of being cut off by customs seems now to be materializing in new ways, at the source.

You are probably right . Anyone would think that B12 is some terrible dangerous drug ! It cannot be overdosed . It presents no danger at all .

The usual dose for an injection is 1ml . So a 10 ml vial gives you 10 injections and a 30ml gives you 30, injections, unless you need a stronger dose . It’s best not to keep a vial for more than a month , so it depends on how often you need to inject which size you buy

Here in U.K. and the rest of Europe , vials are not used . Single use injections called ampoules are used . . It is said that single use ampoules are safer to use , because there is a slight danger of contamination in a domestic situation . But i know that vials are commonly used in USA , and I haven’t heard of any occurrence of contamination on this forum . We have quite a few USA members , and I’m sure we would have heard of any problems with vials .

If you purchase vials or. ampoules , they should be kept in a dark cool place . B12 is light-sensitive ., Strict hygiene is important . Buy some alcohol swabs , and wash hands thoroughly .

Here in Europe , Hydroxocobalamin is the type of B12 that is most commonly used

Hope that I’ve helped you a little . Best wishes .

Do as you GP advises and do not waste your money.

I’m genuinely curious and not very knowledgeable — would you mind sharing more with me about your reasoning?

I strongly disagree! I am on the USA and had to fight for weekly injections. My doctor refused until I told her I ordered them myself from Canada, b12-shot.com/index.aspx. Once she saw I was going to inject anyway, she relented and now orders weekly. Monthly was not curing my pins and needles in my feet, weekly is.

If all G.ps were we informed and trained in b12 we all would just follow those advice.

I'm usually very compliant.

They were getting my treatment wrong though.

It often takes a consultant specialist to educate s G.p on this condition.

They simply can't be sn expert on everything.

This being s prime example.

They should however work with you.

Have you asked you doctor for a prescription for extra B12 for self injection? My doctor was happy to prescribe extra doses and the nurse showed me how to self inject. If they are unwilling to listen to you, I'd look around for a new GP. I moved recently and need to find a new GP closer to where I now live. My first questions while interviewing doctors will be regarding their B12 philosophy.

I’m in the USA and ordered from b12-shot.com/index.aspx. I ordered two 10,000 mg bottles to inject 1000 each week. So each bottle is good for 10 weeks. There’s a 20% off code on Facebook. I’ll try to find it.

I ordered syringes here vitalitymedical.com/mckesso....

You have to be your own advocate because most physicians don’t understand this disease. My doctors said once a week for four weeks then once a month. But two weeks after no injections, all my symptoms starting coming back, so I ordered my own. I self injected every other day for two weeks, then gradually spaced out injections to weekly. Once I told my doctor this, she agreed to order me weekly.

CYANO (normal dosage is 1ml, order based on how often you will be injecting)

B12-Shot.com (drop down menu, choose size)

Canadadrugsuperstore.com (drop down menu, choose size)

Note: We have a 20% discount on supplies from B12 Shot and Canadadrugsuperstore

..use the code 20PAG24

Both companies ship worldwide - use the pull down menu.

From Pernicious Anaemia/ B12 Deficiency - Support Group on Facebook. They also advise cofactors that help with absorption. Folate can be depleted. I also found I had an iron deficiency and am on supplements, which appear to be working. Good luck!

Hello Lhood08,

I live in South Carolina. I know what you're up against. First, I would tell your GP that once a month is not reducing your symptoms long enough. Ask if they will prescribe every 14 days. I was fortunate, my GP offered to do that. If they do not agree to that, then you can order from Amazon.de. That is the German Amazon. No prescription is needed for the glass ampules of Cyanocobalamin 1 ml for individual shots. Click the US flag at the top for English and US currency. amazon.de/-/en/Pascoe-Vitam...

They have other brands too. I have used Hevert(depot=Hydroxocobalamin) and Ankerman cyano. Just make sure it an injectable.

I get my syringes from vitalitymedical.com/bd-syri...

Canada is also an option for B12 . Wedgewood has a good list for you.

I have never had my B12 injection done in the Dr office, its always been SI. They dont even keep in on hand and they didn't show me how to do it. I watched a video on you-tube like this one.

youtube.com/watch?v=fMEZdNo...

I lost my insurance and had to to go the DIY route. I am very thankful for this forum! They are very helpful. Dont hesitate to ask questions. We are all doing this B12 life together. 💉
