self injection

Hi 36Hele,
There are YouTube videos for medical students and nurses for OSCEs (Objective Structured Clinical Examination).
Best wishes
On line. There's one posted on YouTube by a GP practice. If you have a friend who's a nurse to supervise the first time it helps with confidence
I do not know any nurses so I guess I have to go it alone .
Sub-c is easy and painless. And such a sense of achievement when you've done it. YouTube demos are great. Eyes on the prize!
I had it done professionally a couple times first, asking questions while she did it. I also watched some you tube videos. I ultimately ended up injecting in my middle outer thighs, about where your hand falls when it’s at your side. I alternate thighs. Very easy and not painful.
I just read a few online guides and watched a few youtube videos on injecting im into the outer side of the middle third of the thigh. Some tips I picked up; Clean the area with an alcohol wipe first, to allow it to dry. This helps avoid stinging; Use different needles for extracting from the ampoule and for the injection; Relax your thigh; Stretch the skin around the insertion site; Hold the syringe like a dart; Cough as you quickly insert; Inject the B12 slowly and steadily, taking 5-10 seconds; Withdraw the needle quickly and carefully. I've not felt one going in yet.
