How to inject Hevert ampoules

I ordered the Hevert B12.A few responses were from people who had used these ampoules. These ampoules contain a lot more liquid than Panpharma ones.

Can you tell me how to use them please. Do I inject in two goes or is it safe to inject the full amount at once. I am now doing sub cut but will go back to IMif I need to.

Well you use them like any other B-12 ampoule . As it is a 2ml ampoule I would use a 2.5 ml syringe . Also a2 ml ampoule is really a bit large for a subcutaneous injection . So inject Intramuscularly I.M.

You will need a long coarse needle to extract the B12 from the ampoule say 21G x 1 1/2 inches and an injection needle 25G x 1inch. Open the ampoule at the weak point on the neck , marked with a spot . You can use an ampoule opener obtained from Amazon. Withdraw the B12 using the long needle . Then change to the injection needle . Expel any air until you get a tiny drop of B12 on the end of the needle . Inject into the Vastus lateralis muscle which is closest to the surface in the middle outer third of the thigh ( look at a picture on the internet ) Perhaps practise on an orange first , to get the feel of it .

Hi 3rdNettydoon,

I have used Helvert and like Wedgewood says use it like the 1 ml.

I once bought these in error and had the same concerns as you, but bit the bullet and used them anyway. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the larger dose went in easily and the bonus was …….no sting either 😊

Thank you for replies. I will keep SI as normal.

I fill 2 - 1ml needles in the am. I use one SC injection in the morning and save the other one for before bed. I have not had issues filling with a short needle as I just tip the ampoule. I have been splitting my dose to twice daily for a while. It helps me personally stave off symptoms as they always return in the evening no matter how much I take in the morning.

Do you refrigerate the second filled needle? And do you happen to know if it deteriorates at all in that time?

So I keep my Ampoules in a small hard cooler. I do not add ice or anything. In my head the cooler will keep the objects inside at a steady temp. I just fill both insulin needles in the morning use one and place the second in the cooler. I use the second one in the evening and have never had an issue with it. I have also noticed healing in my symptoms once I started using Hevert, so I haven't had any negatives to report. I am comparing this to my 30ml vials prescribed in the usa. No matter how I stored them or how much I used I always had symptoms reappearing while on that particular prescribed Hydroxocobalamin .

I do keep the cooler on my bedroom dresser which is in a darker area of the room that is not near any heat sources.

Interesting, thanks so much. I'm currently using Pascoe 1ml ampules that tend to hold 1.2ml. My ideal dose seems to be 0.6ml, which I'm doing EOD. But it's annoying throwing away the remaining 0.6ml and so I am wondering about trying a second dose.

When you say 'insulin' needles are these different to the syringe that I use to hold the Serum B12?
