B12 Ampoules

Hello everyone. I hope you are all keeping well 🙏

I am slowly recovering from Covid which I caught 6 weeks ago. I had the booster vaccine- the 4th vaccine-It takes 2 weeks to become effective and I managed to catch Covid before the vaccine kicked in. Just my luck ! 🙄Wish I could be so lucky with the Euromillions ! The previous vaccine must have waned. This particular strain of Covid is very nasty. I had Covid once before but it wasn't as bad that time. It was a different strain and I was well covered by the vaccine.

I catch illnesses really quickly, often I am really ill with them and it takes an age to recover. I put this down to my PA which I have had for 36 years. As it is an autoimmune disorder it makes sense to me. I don't know if others find this to be true.

I buy the B12 ampoules from Germany. I always buy PANPHARMA CYANOCOBALAMIN at 1mg/1ml.

I also bought some from PASCOE which I haven't used yet. I didn't realise at the time that they are HYDROXOCOBALAMINACETAT and are 1500 ug ( I don't have the symbol for it on my laptop. It looks a bit like an upside down m ) / 1ml.

Are the PASCOE ones not suitable ? I am in the UK.

Keep safe and well everyone 🙏 and don't forget the 2 week rule if you haven't had you Covid vaccine yet.

I started using Pascoe B12 depot

when Panpharma B12 depot was unobtainable. Surprised that you use Cynocobalamin which is not the usual B12 that the NHS uses. The NHS uses Hydroxocobalamin. Which is expressed as B12 DEPOT . Panpharma , Pascoe and Hevert sell both types of B12 . Hydroxocobalamin is supposed to stay in the system longer than Cynocobalamin.

I have found Pascoe B12 depot excellent ,as have many other members . It is 50 % stronger than the Panpharma. If you inject very regularly you will find that buying 10 packets makes them a very reasonable price . Ref no. for 10’packets is 07568695 ( 100ampoules ) Best by date is about 2 years .

Thank you so much for your reply. I shall definitely use the Pascoe ones and buy the ones you recommended above. Thank you for all the information. I don't know why I have been using Cynocobalamin. Stupid me ! I have found that I am having to use them more frequently -3 weeks as opposed to 4 weeks.

I have just bought 100 hydroxocobalamin Hervert ampoules from Apohealth via Amazon. Was a bit concerned they are a higher dose than those I get here. However my GP surgery is fighting to cut my weekly injection to within "the guidelines"---8-12 weeks, so I think I shall be using them! They've had proof that there is little or no medical evidence that B12 is toxic from the hospital, but they're determined to find something wrong with me, even though I am fighting fit and healthy ( apart from PA!). They're now reffering me to the haematology department and neurology department because my red blood cells are slightly enlarged, even with B12.

It's like talking to a brick wall, they just do not listen!

Has anyone else bought from Apohealth? Looking for a little bit of reassurance. Thanks.

Yes , I’ve bought from apohealth — They are fine-nothing to worry about . They are approved by the German Health Authorities .

The Hevert ampoules are only 1mg which is the normal dosage .You may be misled because the 1mg of Hydroxocobalamin is in 2ml of saline .

No proof that any amount of B12 can be toxic —There is none!

Thanks for both messages. Have been referred to haematology, will see what they have to say.

Hi Wedgewood, just reading your comments to dollcat. I have just bought Panpharma Hydroxocobalamine, are you saying this brand is not as effective as Pascoe. Regards

wedgewood in reply to Helliborous

Most certainly not ! Panpharma is my go-to choice, because it is good value . I used Pascoe when Panpharma was unobtainable. Pascoe is stronger ( I.5 mg x 1ml) , but that is not necessary . 1mg is the perfect dosage .

Hevert is also fine , but comes in 2ml of saline . I prefer to inject I ml . Having used all 3 brands , I know that they are all excellent and reliable . Best wishes

You should note that cyanocobalamin and hydroxocobalamin have different characteristics and that some people find one better than the other. Also, cyanocobalamin is to be injected every 4 weeks while hydroxy can be stretched a bit more. 3 weeks for a cyanocobalamin shot is also pretty standard, so nothing to be concerned about there. If you do switch to the hydroxy version and it does not suit you, you should consider if the cyano version suits you better. B12 deficiency can certainly weaken our immune system as B12 is needed to fight infections. Good luck!

On the issue of Covid there does seem to be a strong argument for making sure vitamin D levels are sufficient. It can also affect thyroid, the following is interesting, something to be aware of for people with autoimmune conditions considering many have more than one.

Hi Tanitha . Thank you for the info. I had a vitamin D deficiency a few months ago so the Dr prescribed a 7 week high dosage course.

I have been having back problems so I had a scan which showed all sorts of damage and arthritis and also low bone mass. They said it is Osteopenia. I have been prescribed a high dosage of Calcium and Vitamin D tablets. Hopefully it won't become Osteoprosis 🙏

P.S. Thyroid was ok when I had bloods taken recently.

Hi dollcat

That's really interesting regarding the Vit D - luckily your doctor has acted quickly and I do hope it doesn't progress further. You won't know how you would have been catching Covid with Vit D deficiency but if there is a connection between severe illness and Vit D deficiency it's better to be aware and use preventative measures. A deficiency can make you very unwell. I have learnt such a lot from here and if you don't tend to frequent the Thyroid forum it may be worth a look. You may of course already have a good understanding of thyroid so forgive me if I'm stating the obvious here.... if TSH is within range your thyroid will, generally, be classed as ok by the NHS, however you also need the T3, T4 and antibody levels to get a true picture. Ferritin is also important in maintaining good thyroid health and can be low with b12 deficiency.

Hi dollcat

I wish you a speedy recovery and hope you build yourself up quickly. I inject daily with the Pascoe Hydroxocobalamin 1500 ug so I wouldn’t hesitate to use them and up your dose post illness.

You may also wish to consider brewing kombucha if you have the space - it’s super easy, super cheap and packed with immune boosting prebiotics. It tastes delicious as you can flavour it how you want with fresh or frozen fruit. It’s fizzy too which is interesting on the tongue! One of the few things that is good for me and it’s a joy to drink!

Take care and recover quickly.

🤗🤗🤗🤗

Ooh thank you. I will look into kombucha. I still feel ill 8 weeks on from Covid. I am having more frequent injections. I have really bad headaches since Covid but I have arthritis in my neck. I have an eye test tomorrow as I definitely need a stronger prescription for lenses so that isn't helping either.

I am also experiencing other symptoms Post Covid. My throat hurts if I talk too much, my tongue feels like it is burning, I have acid reflux, my sense of taste is affected -nothing tastes right, my sense of smell is really heightened. I feel unwell and exhausted. Some nights I am unable to sleep. The symptoms come and go. No two days are the same.

I buy Pascoe B12 depot from them too but have not used anything else apart from the Accord 1mg used by the NHS. My only gripe with apohealth is that they don't reply to emails if you've any problems or queries about your order.
