I have been treated for years now for stomach ulcer without good relief. Two years ago, I underwent endoscopy test. The results showed some healed ulcer and some erosion which resulted to inflammation. The doctor said I had gastritis. He bombarded my system with antibiotics and proton pump inhibitors. After three months, I was still feeling lethargic, dizzy, tingling sensation on my hands and feet, fatigued and stomach pains. In addition, I had sleeplessness, low concentration, confusion and forgetfulness among other symptoms. These symptoms have been tormenting me since 2021. I have been complaining to the doctors and suggesting B12 deficiency treatment but the doctors always snub me. I personally went for blood work which revealed I had very low b12 but the doctors did not consider it still. After registering with this forum, I started self-injecting cyanocobalamin. This lasted for 5 months without remarkable improvement. Recently, my new doctors prescribed meconerv, ligaba, ginsomin and pariet. My worry is that I don't know if it's right to take B12 capsules with PPI since PPI interferes with the absorption of b12 in the food. Can someone help me please.

Can b12 be administered together with proton pump inhibitors?
My understanding is that injected B12 bypasses stomach and ileum absorption mechanisms. My experience with PPIs is that they are highly problematic for the digestive system. For me they created more problems and solved none. I believe they caused B12D/PA. I switched to an H2 Blocker (which I was originally taking) which does not appear to cause fundic polyps and are much gentler. I hope my stomach/ileum may heal itself now I no longer take PPIs. I am not medically trained, just feeling my way through the minefield of the prescription drugs culture.
Have you been tested for Helicobacter pylori? That is the single biggest cause of stomach ulcers and is treated with a specific antibiotic. Might be worth asking to be tested?
The best person to ask is a dispensing chemist.
The role of PPIs is to reduce stomach acidity. B12 capsules shouldn't interfere with this but it is possible that absorption of the capsules may be affected by the PPI
I can't speak for all the other medications -in my opinion you at least need a review about such a mix - but PPIs block B12 absorption and you really should consider getting injections.
