I was diagnosed with low B12 at the end of last year and on 3 monthly injections at my GP surgery… following a visit to my ENT consultant for ongoing ear issues and horrendous hay fever, he diagnosed me with silent reflux and suggested Gaviscon.. my question is, when I have my B12 injection would the Gaviscon interact/affect absorption and should I make sure I’m not taking it around that time? Or is it okay? I will obviously ask my GP and mention it when I’m next due my injection but wondered what others experiences are?
With the B12 being injected Gaviscom will have no affect to its absorption whatsoever.
I have been having B12 injections for over fifty-two years and have regularly had need to use Gaviscom/Peptac due to gastric surgery at the age of 17 back in 1959
I have been prescribed a pain killer called Naproxen to treat gout and because that can cause stomach problems also a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). As I have PA I have to take acids to help digest food. Hence I have not taken either the pain killer nor the PPI. Getting to see the GP who is trying to help me is near impossible & it's clear she has not looked far enough back to realise this. Fortunately the GP booking system is changing so that we can book ahead and try and sort it out. Looks like I can probably take the Naproxen without the PPI.
