Different types of injections

Long story short my im having a hard time setting an appointment with neurologist. The drs office wont issue a prescription of cyanocobalamin without an appointment. I usually take 2 injections a week to keep any nasty neurological symptoms from coming back. The way i would work that out is i would take the one drs issued injection on a tuesdays and go to a local pharmacy that would administer an injection without a drs prescription on saturday. Both of the cyanocabalamin type b12. Well ive found another location that will give injections in the meantime without a prescription but it is of the methylcobalamin type. My question is will it be alright/ safe to take the methylcobalamin on tuesday and the cyanocabalamin on saturday? Kinda mix the 2 types or will i be throwing money away as they may counteract with each other?

No , it’s absolutely safe to take both, one after the other . . A Methylcobalamin injection is usually quite a bit more expensive than a Cynocobalamin.

. . . & is there an overall view that methylcobalamin, being the natural & active form, is generally likely to be more effective, & longer lasting, . . . dose for dose, than the non-natural cyano- form ?

I’m assuming that texans2002 is inUSA where Cynocobalamin is the usual B12 injection that is given . They don’t seem to use hydroxocobalamin over there .

I think that different types of cobalamin might well suit, or not suit , different patients . So it’s quite a good idea that we try the different types . Of course the big issue is cost . Methylcobalamin is very expensive . Cynocobalamin is the cheapest . Hydroxocobalamin in between .

Some people feel no difference between the three types of injections.

I have taken all three via injection and do feel differences starting with feeling bat shit crazy on that 'natural source' methylcobalamin.

B12 is b12 Some find methylcobalabin csn give unwanted side effects .

My friend in Canada has tried all 3 types.

She us back to cyanocobalamin as cheaper and widely available there .

She found no benefit with paying more .

I have had all 3 types of injection and found them all beneficial with no side effects, although I haven't mixed them at the same time. Hope you find the same, would be interested to know. 😊

I have injected cyanocobalamin, Methylcobalamin and hydroxocobalamin for a minimum of a 90 day trial. I improved using each form with no side effects that could not be attributed to my neurological system healing. The Methylcobalamin was more effective when administered with adenosylcobalamin sublingual. I do not find the information on the efficacy of the different forms to be substantial.

My current regiment:

50 mg SC Hydroxocobalamin.

5 mg SL Methylcobalamin/Adenasolcobalamin 66%/33% three times a day sometimes four.

Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate .25 mg liquid in water twice a day.

Simple Solutions in lieu of a B-complex once a day.

Just started a trial of 2 g of Betine twice a day 5 days ago with positive results so far.

I make the assumption that the effect of the different forms when taken prior to now may be different as my body has changed as I heal.

When I get back to the USA I am considering adding cyanocobalamin in some form.

It took a leap of faith based on the understanding that the three forms I currently administer of could be administered simultaneously to take advantage of how each is synthesized by my body.

It was a leap of faith to administer more than 1mg every day. It was very helpful to know a number of people on this forum administer more.

It was easy to decide to follow the protocol in the UK and reject the protocol used in the USA as it is very outdated.

Actually there is 4 forms of b12 ampulls - cause there is two types of hydroxocobalamin - hydroxocobalaminacetat (best) and hydroxocobalaminchlorid (much less effective). The other two is cyanocobalamin an Methylcobalamin.

A roughe comparizon is how often a maintenance dose could be administred with similar effect for some people (not scientific exact):

- hydroxocobalaminacetat- best and longest effect by far - 4 weeks between

- cyanocobalamin - should be avoided because cyanid, especially for smokers, 2 weeks between

- hydroxocobalaminklorid- 1 week between

- Methylcobalamin - expensive - least common - used when other b12 ampulls dont work - 1 week between

There is also adenosylcobalamin!

Wiki says also known as coenzyme B12, cobamamide, and dibencozide.

Though I've never seen it in an ampoule.

The amount of cyanide is equivalent to that in some foods, such as ingesting some apple seeds. (Miss you dearest fbirder - hope you have kissed a naturopathic doctor this month!)

And Clive on here never switched from cyanocobalamin to hydroxocobalamin when it became the choice in the UK (he was diagnosed pre-introduction of hydroxocobalamin. Why? Because he had many side effects to the new choice at the time.

He has taken cyanocobalamin for decades and decades with no issue.
