I would like more on these lower levels. My levels are all within range now but are all on the low side. I know that the low side of the B12 range is not high enough for me but is this true for all ranges?

Scientist, not medic.

It's normal. Perfectly normal, even if it looks a bit on the low side. The distribution of ferritin results isn't a 'bell curve' where the mean, mode and median all overlie one another, so it's reasonable to expect that the result won't be half-way between the lower and upper bounds. Providing your blood count is OK, then don't worry. If, on the other hand, your ferritin result falls and your MCV & MCH go down with it, it's time to investigate. Keep an eye on it, and make sure you have an adequate supply of iron in your diet. Don't start supplementing on iron without getting a medical opinion first. Iron in excess is toxic.

Hi Chance, I've sort of of given up on test results. The one question I ask myself is - am I feeling well ?If you're having enough B12 to control deficiency symptoms and you don't feel iron deficient, then your ferritin level is probably fine.

For whatever reason, I don't feel well unless my ferritin level is at least 60, but everyone's different.

I echo Flippers advice about taking medical advice before supplementing iron.

Best wishes x

Why take 15mg of folic acid a day? It seems like you have been taking this dose for 3 years? based on previous thread, healthunlocked.com/pasoc/po...

15mg is 15 times the tolerable upper limit and 75 times the RDA. There is no reason to take such a gigantic dose, this is three times higher even than the short term dose to correct a severe folate deficiency. Folate is not B12. You CAN take too much and suffer adverse effects - the tolerable upper intake limit exists for a reason.
