B12 and Dyshidrotic eczema
I had this in my early twenties as a reaction to a very stressful time in my life(I'm 58 now)GP said it was scabies but when it didn't clear up I was sent to the hospital and the doctors there didn't have a clue either(nothing much changes). The itching it caused was awful ,it only started to clear up when I used a cream called dermidex.I occasionally still get little blisters pop up on the palms of my hands and I think oops, scabies is back😀and as I have b12 d I think it is connected,as Iv'e got older it all makes sense now
its eczema which can flare up due to stress cleaning products or cosmetics or certain metals i just wandered if there was a link with skin issues and vitamin deficiencies be interesting to see if they were linked probably is if it can cause neurological issues can probably affect skin also
yes,I found out years later it was called pompholyx, and Iv'e always had eczema type reactions to cleaning products, cosmetics etc,I think your'e right, it is linked, since doing daily b12 jabs a big patch of eczema on my left shin which has been there a few years now has recently cleared up
I used to get this all the time, worse in the summer. It more or less went away after I started hydrocortisone for adrenal insufficiency and completely stopped since I started B12
I vaguely remember a discussion about this some time ago. I'll see if i can it, if i'm remembering correctly.

Well thank you for writing this post.I've learnt something new , not just about a condition I've had off and on all of my life and didn't know the name of , but also that it is linked to Vitamin B 12 deficiency.
In fact , in the quick read I've just done of some research papers it showed the Vitamin B 12 and B complex deficiencies are a primary trigger for all types of Eczema and supplements are advised in treatment.
Also Vitamin B 12 deficiency causes a trigger of various allergies to food , chemicals and metals , and these allergy reactions can be a trigger of an eczema flare or other skin conditions.
The allergies associated with Dyshidrotic eczema include Cement , Chromium , Nickel and Cobalt. It can also be made worse by sweating or wet skin. Which is probably why it mainly occurs on hands and feet , or near areas where you may have a button or buckle pressing the skin.
So , it might be an idea to check that you aren't in contact with any of these substances when you have an attack , including checking if you have chromium in any supplement you take or cream you use if you started on and found the condition happen soon after.
Keeping your skin dry and using an emollient cream with zinc or something like Epaderm helps and obviously try not to itch it .
My daughter had really bad eczema prior to starting B12 injections. It had spread to the soles of her feet and her hands. She was hobbling around like an old person because the eczema on her feet would cause fissures that bled. After blood tests revealed a B12 level that was so low it was unreadable, she started loading doses and soon after that the eczema started to clear up. It probably took a year for it to completely go away. This was a lovely, unexpected result of B12 shots.
I think there is a connection. I had an outbreak a few years ago on one foot which was quite persistent, and a few repeats after. Since starting b12 injections in summer 2021 it has disappeared. (White vinegar helps too)
thanks everyone ive been prescribed steroid cream and moisturizing cream hopefully it works. i got it a few years back before i was on the b12 injections and it was really bad and took months to get better hopefully wont be as bad this time as i have b12 injections every 12 weeks
I've had this too! Really severe for many years. Stress and food allergies/sensitivities are my triggers. I have gut issues also and my skin always acts up when my gut flares up. I can only imagine what my gut lining looks like inside me if this is the reaction on the outside. When I eat a food I am sensitive to too many times or in excess I usually start to get the blisters on my hands and feet. Too much sugar will do it too.

Can't see a mention of B12 deficiency in above article.
I had a type of excema that disappeared when I finally got B12 treatment.
I also had a lot of fungal infections which also disappeared after starting B12.
Found quite a few interesting articles when I searched for "b12 deficiency skin symptoms" and "excema b12 deficiency".
