This is strange: how can a GP surgery, run now by a different set of partners, be so incompetent as to lose patients' notes and consultants' reports ? Their meetings must be very lengthy affairs if having to run through a catalogue of such errors.
Lucky you got remote access sorted.
I remember a metabolics consultant reporting that I told him I drink 9 units of alcohol.....a day ! But that was funny and this isn't. I got him to amend this in his next report, so no harm done.
I was none too pleased when I saw a new doctor for the first time and he got very alarmed and agitated by my self-injecting B12 (although I'd gone to him because I had daily heart arrhythmia problems). He had my NHS injections stopped at a practice meeting very soon after. A letter was sent from him to me telling me to stop injecting and accept just the NHS injection every 2 months - or the NHS injections would be stopped immediately. I did not even bother to reply to him. Lying about stopping was not an option for me.
All this happened fairly swiftly, all while my usual GP was still on holiday.
Initially I was furious. but I spoke with my GP on her return, and she made me realise that he hadn't really changed anything for me.
Was told on Thursday that my Dexascan results have not yet come in.
I told the receptionist that the scan was in November 2021.
She then found them straight away -but told me she could not tell me them as they were "medical". I was asked if I wanted to phone early the next morning to make an appointment, so I said no, as I was already on the phone now - she then booked me a telephone appointment for next Wednesday some time between 8.30am -12. After two months, another week can't matter.
Well guess who the doctor is ? Beggars can't be choosers !
Keep on this -and don't allow decisions to be made about you that will affect your hard-won treatment. A professional decision about treatment made only a couple of years ago must still stand. Why waste time getting a second decision from someone who has never seen you before and likely never will ? That person cannot have a clue about how this has changed your life and has invested nothing into your current care.
Yrs I've Bern asked to do that to phone back to book a telephone appointment to then have to wait for a call back .I ,like you booked it on the first call
It then didn't happen.
So had to start again.
I was then told if I 'spoke' like that '
Tone? Really not sure as I was polite.
She wouldnt not speak to me .
I'm on a monotone as even on loudspeaker it's really difficult for me as sets off tinnitus .
She then put me on hold. Then cut me off.
Took 52mins to get hrough again.
Only to be told I wasn't getting a call back.
Message was have to wait for practice meeting with partners??
I asked for it to be logged I wanted a reply/ response to my letters and emails from the practice Manager or partner.
Not even recieved an acknowledgement
As for getting results;
Gone are the days it seems with a far simpler method of looking at results.
Then have the list of phone calls to make to the patients with the results.
Receptionists should not give results. They are not clinical staff .
My daughter was on hold for 1 hr 6mins
The surgery won't allow her to pick up a blood form then go into the room yo have it taken.
Has to make a seperate visit after 1pm to collect the form on another day ????
Shed tried once uo collect it . Queue too long .
Her BP check for medication has to be another separate visit.
As does another routine check.
All of which could be done with one visit.
4 visits!! All the things done by the same person and mandatory otherwise prescription withheld .
A prescription needed to raise BP to stay upright otherwise passes out and ends up in a and e
Caused by undiagnosed PA
Cant stand on the spot or queue
None of which acknowledged
No wonder the surgery heaving
Another letter has gone from me
The named nurse has put 4 incorrect entries on my record now.
2 monthly b12 injections in 2 places
Now 3 monthly after explaining on the phone as thought a simple mistake as 2 WEEKLY .
Also there's a query with my treatment to discuss with doctor??
Apparently
I've basically said theve got 2 weeks to sort it it thenif not I will escalate it as a formal complaint .
Giving them in total over a month to change 2 then 3 monthly back to 2 weekly on my medical record.
The separate issue is awaiting a random neurologudts opinion on b12 toxicity .
To review my B12 treatment.
I was assured my treatment would remain the same at present .
That is on a text! From G.p.
It can't until the notes are corrected !
As they will read the incorrect entry and refuse to give the injection
You couldn't make it up.
Certainly testing my brain!!
I do feel very concerned for those denied their injections then unable , as too ill to sort it out .
Very worrying.
I've had to step in for my mother and dsughter on this issue several times.
Not easy .
Surely withholding treatment is negligence ??
Certainly cruel
Certainly stressful .
Lots of repetition. I think as said it so many different ways to this nurse .anf in tmsoks snd letters. Trying your get 'heard'
My brain more 'addled ' than I think.
So glad I found this forum.
Never used one before.
So glad I have collected 15 ampoules recently on prescription and 'German ' b12 not run out yet.
To carry on this battle
Not needed ,not wanted.
Hoping the telephone rings from 'that doctor' but results okay .
Even now, as well as I have become, I would not be able to do what you have done- not and stay calm, not and not swear and ruin it, not and not cry. And you know what happens then with the antidepressant offers !
Oh dear, I am so sorry at all the opposition you are experiencing. Why is it so difficult to get sensible help. Our surgery has gone downhill too after an amalgamation. Doctor First is right! It’s certainly no longer patient first. Here’s wishing you the strength to keep going.
