Hi to everyone who has through their incredible knowledge helped me over the past year
I have gained so much knowledge from this site but never posted before
I am self injecting following advice from Dr Chandy very successfully for the last year but have a question about the storage of B12
Normally when injecting it stings and can be painful for a couple of hours after but my last batch of ampules feel like injecting water (no discomfort at all )
And they don’t seem to work
Is it possible the storage and transporting during the very hot summer we have had could have caused the b12 to lose its strength and properties
Thanks for your thoughts and consideration

The ampoules should be kept in the dark and not stored above 25c . In the hot weather I put my ampoules in the top of the fridge till it got cooler But even if your ampoules were kept too warm for a week or two , the efficacy should not have been impaired by very much, if at all .
I have kept them in the fridge this summer but wondered if the supplier wasn’t so careful
I can’t work out why this batch doesn’t seem to have the same effect. Normally I have to inject very slowly because of the discomfort This batch seems to go in quickly and painlessly
But most importantly my injection doesn’t seem to address the signs /if symptoms I get when needing b12
I.e headache tiredness tinnitus and stiff neck
I take a multi vitamin and additional folate
Really appreciate your knowledge and time I have always felt a little guilty that I use the site for info so much and have never introduced myself
PA is a complicated condition , and we are all very different . Please don’t get discouraged if you don’t progress as quickly as you hoped . Sometimes one does seem to go backwards . You must persist . Sometimes things get worse before they get better . Best wishes .
Are you getting your B12 from Chandy or from a reputable supplier?
Chandy used to supply methylcobalamin without proper storage instructions. It needs to be kept refrigerated, unlike cyanocobalamin and hydroxocobalamin which should be stored below 25°C.
If it’s methylcobalamin, and the supplier hasn’t refrigerated it, then expiry dates are meaningless.
Just a thought if hydroxocobalamin should be stored below 25 it would be possible, given we have had many days above 25 this summer , it has not been stored appropriately by the supplier. Do you think ?
I have ordered from a different supplier Bodfield Germany to see if it makes a difference
Have you heard of them ? I hope they are reputable!
Hi clairemallen123. Bofeld is a reputable supplier of vitamin B12 injections.
Intravita offer cosmetic treatment and nutrition therapy and their charge for B12 is above what we usually expect to pay when buying B12 from Germany.
Because they are not medical suppliers they are not subject to the same stringent controls and there is no guarantee that the B12 has been stored appropriately (though I understand that they did (at one time) buy B12 from a reputable German supplier - but no idea what they do now). And it's more expensive because they add on an additional charge when selling it in the UK.
Going direct to a reputable supplier in Germany cuts out the middle man (Intravita) and also ensures that the product (B12) has been stored appropriately, with audited controls in place 😉.
