Long story short, was unwell around 2 years ago B12 serum 184 (not low GP said) started SI, got better, during this time saw neurologist diagnosed with tonsilar ectopia (hernia of base of my brain) told to stop SI as levels where 1400 that was a year ago. My symptoms have come back… now I am in my first trimester of pregnancy, feeling absolutely horrific. I have done a private active b12, should have the results in a day or 2. Am I starting this fighting a loosing battle again? Or should I just start SI?
Thanks

Thanks for your reply, No my symptoms have crept back in I’d say starting about 6 weeks after having last injection.. I have been taking tablets still. I had just been trying my hardest to last as long as I could without having an injection to lower my levels so my GP would take me seriously. Even before my pregnancy the tiredness, muscle weekness, pins and needles and random shooting pains where becoming more and more frequent.
I will speak to midwife & not long until my results comeback so hopefully that will shed some light as to if my body stores correctly? Not sure if a year is long enough to lower your levels after regular injections.
Thanks nackapan, I would say managed but not managed well Iv had many days off work unwell I have just put up with for as long as I can, I felt much better when on injections.
This is terrible! Your injections were stopped through the consultants ignorance. I would ask for them to be reinstated. I know nothing about pregnancy & injecting b12 through it so will leave others to comment on that. I will say there is a lot of ignorance in the nedical profession around b12 injections. Why not ring the PA helpline? Am sure they can advise you and who knows maybe they can help to get your injections reinstated.
Once you need injections you need them forever- it’s just the frequency that’s different for all of us. I’m not a doctor so I don’t know why they said stop cos of your hernia- you should ask, if no reason start injecting
