I just ordered "B12 depot Rotexmedica Injektionslösung 10X1 ml" from Germany and by mistake added ""B12 Rotexmedica Injektionslösung 10X1 ml" - i.e. not "depot" - as well! I'm not sure I can cancel the order now (it's not a big deal if not) but what's the difference? Can I use the non depot?
Depot?: I just ordered "B12 depot... - Pernicious Anaemi...
Depot?
I’ve done this myself . Without “depot “ you will get Cynocobalamin, which does work in the same way as Hydrocobalamin “depot” . I used them because I didn’t know I’d done that till after they arrived from Germany . Hydroxocobalamin is supposed to stay in our systems for longer , but I noticed no difference at all ! In the USA it is the B12 injection of choice . If you’ve only just ordered , you could phone them, or mostly these German online Pharmacies offer a chance to “chat”.More that likely you will get someone who can speak English . Best of luck .
I have cyanocobalamin shots every four weeks from my GP in the UK. It’s licenced for use every four weeks as it’s not supposed to last as long as hydroxocobalamin.
I’ve had three months of cyano now and inject myself with hydroxo once every four weeks, between my GP’s shots. I’ve actually noticed a lot of improvement since doing this. Whether it’s down to the change of injection type, my body just finally getting enough, or something else, I’m not sure.
But there certainly hasn’t been any down side to having the cyano.
Thanks Cinders. I'll certainly use the cyano as well. My "problem" is that I don't appear to have any of the B12 deficiency symptoms many suffer other than intermittent pins and needles in my left foot and occasionally left hand so it'll be difficult to assess any real difference between the two, I imagine.
Have you been seen by a neurologist?
The neuropathy caused by a B12 deficiency tends to be symmetrical - affecting both left and right sides. Having it on only one side would be unusual and makes me think there may be another cause.
No I haven't yet. I suspect this intermittent tingling in my left foot may be because I've suffered from a chronic ingrowing toenail on my 4th toe (the little piggy that had none!) for many years and it might have sensitized the foot more to this B12 deficiency symptom. I self-treat the toe on a regular basis and when the toe is more inflamed the tingling is more pronounced and especially in that area of the foot - i.e. the outside. There's no infection in the toe. When there's no inflammation the sensation in the whole foot is less. This only came on a few months before my GP ran a blood test last October which showed borderline B12 and sub-borderline folate so I think it must be related to this deficiency. He checked for other possible causes at the same time but found nothing. The tingling in my left hand is milder and seems to develop when the sensation in my foot is especially bad! Some nerve connections running between foot and hand maybe?
I had distinct symptoms and was treated with too few B12 injections. Then I started injecting myself every other day since February 2020. I have been surprised to find that various function like sweating and enough tears to keep my eyes damp improved considerably - I had not noted their lack before. So symptoms only became apparent once I was treating myself adequately. Might be true for you as well.
