Covid jab

Has anyone else had their B12 injection then their Covid jab a few days later?

I did and just over a week after I feel awful and that my B12 isn't working at all!

I injected hydroxocobalamin an hour before having the Moderna vaccination. I had a sore arm and was exhausted - dozed on and off all day. Felt fine the next morning.

Like Hidden , I inject frequently, so difficult to avoid this situation for me too. I had covid in January- too ill to bother with self-injecting B12 for a while, but when I was able again, I self injected every other day for a while and believe it helped with my recovery.

I had the covid vaccination last week and next day, felt exactly like I did at the start of covid. Apart from swollen injected arm which took a while, by the day after I was fine again.

To avoid any problems, I stayed on the increased B12 frequency and will start reducing injections to every three days now -which is my usual.

I was told that if you have recently had covid, it is more likely that you will get a stronger reaction to the injection. If you had a covid infection which started less than a month before the date of your vaccination, your appointment would be altered to a later date.

There is no reason for a covid vaccination to cause subsequent B12 injections not to work. Some of the likely reactions to the covid injection are similar to some of the symptoms of B12 deficiency. I don't know which vaccination you received, but check the written information about reactions. Some can be quite common eg 1 in 10 people.

I would contact your GP to discuss exactly what you are feeling and whether this would be considered normal. There is information on when and where to report adverse effects on the leaflet that you should have been given at the vaccination centre.

Don't worry alone; GPs are still there to help you.

B12 on Friday evening. Pfizer vaccine on Saturday morning. Sore arm for a few days, didn't feel the need for more B12 before Tuesday (when it was next due).

Indeed, I feel much better than normal. It could be that covid had me more stressed than I realised, or that Spring is making me feel better in my head than I have for some time.

I had the Oxford Astra Zenica jab in the same week but had np adverse side effects apart from a soreness the following day.

I wish you well

Hi, can I ask did you have the covid jab because you fell into the criteria through having these jabs. Thanks

I would imagine it would be age/job criteria or leftovers. I don’t believe that PA or B12 deficiency puts you into any higher vaccine priority category.

Yes. B12 on Sunday and Moderna vaccine on Wednesday. Reports indicate higher side effect response to vaccine due to more robust immune system in those under 50, so that may be why I had stronger side effects? Sore arm onset within two hours. Soreness peaked that night. Chills, low fever and headache began about 10 hours later. I also had some slight nausea the next couple of days. I felt ill for two days—enough to need Tylenol and lay in bed some. Felt markedly better by day 3, but I feel like I still felt a little off (maybe a little tired) for about a week. I did not feel like my B12 wasn’t working, just that my immune response was kicking into high gear and I was experiencing symptoms of the vaccine, which they say is normal and indicates the vaccine is working.

I asked the same question 2 days ago lolHad my b12 on Tuesday and my vaccine is today.I have a plan to inject my self a few days after if the side effects are bad.

I suffer badly with side effects from the flu jab every time and preparing my self if there is any issues but if there isn’t nice one :)

I did a B12 injection the day before we had out 1st Pfizer dose. I thought the nurse was worse at giving injections as I didn't feel my B12 but the Pfizer hurt a little. The arm area of the Pfizer was a little sore for the rest of the day and half of the next. A few days later there was a distinct taste of washing up liquid as I put food or drink in my mouth then nothing. The B12 worked fine. My wife had the same sore arm experience but that was it. She doesn't do B12 injections.

Yes. The same thing happened to me. Do you also tend to get side effects to meds? That started a few years ago for me, so I am assuming that's what this is all about. I'm not sure it relates to the timing of the B12 injection for that reason. I am starting to envy all those who say "No side effects!" though.😊
