Its been 2 weeks since I m tested fort B12 deficiency. Currently had my 5 shots of methylcobalamin every alternate day. But still feeling bit dizzy, confused, imbalanced, tired, also doesn't get proper sleep, tingling & numbness around head, hands & feet. My Doc told me that it will take time to heal. But exactly how much is the question..?
Vitamin B12 deficiency level 131pg/ml... - Pernicious Anaemi...
Vitamin B12 deficiency level 131pg/ml..ya really low
Noone knows a time frame. It sounds as though treatment shoukdve continued.
Symptoms can get worses before better but getting the right treatment vital.
Try asking the doc to switch you to cyanocobalamin. Just as good as methylcobalamin but less likely to produce side effects.
I was not aware that cyanocobolamin was less likely to give side effects. My doctors insist I need methyl, yet the side effects are intolerable. I have an appt. in a few days and planned to beg for hydroxy. Years ago I had an anaphylactic reaction to a Vitamin/mineral infusion. I was told at the time that it was likely the (cyano) B12 that caused it. In general my body over-reacts to supplementation. Should I push for cyano or hydroxy? 1000 mcg. of injected methyl induces increased nerve pain, severe agitation and insomnia, nausea and dizziness (among other things) I cannot take oral as my gut is so sick. I do not absorb much of anything.
There's a lot (a lot) of anecdotal evidence for methylcobalamin causing side effects in some people. The agitation, irritability and generally feeling 'wrong' that I suffered from has been repeated by many others.
I would insist on hydroxocobalamin if possible, cyanocobalamin if not.
If your doctor insists you need methylcobalamin then I would challenge it. There's a lot of rubbish about magic methyl on the interwebs, I wonder if your doc has believed it. Here is my take on it, with a lot of the science (and links to the research it's based on).

Thank you for your reply. I had side effect of acne on face & rashes on hands but Doc. told me that it will soon fade away. As per my yesterday's visit to doc. he has prescribed me with oral tablets for multivitamin vit b12 1500mcg & sleep pills to ease the problem related to sleep disturbance. Also told that it will take some time to feel better & symptoms to fade. I will update on the journey soon
