I was diagnosed with gastritis in 2016 with an endoscopy by my gastroenterologist. I was also diagnosed with PBC at that time. I had been having lots of stomach problems before then. I took a PPI for a month, changed my diet and have had little problem with my stomach since then.
At the end of 2019 I was diagnosed with PA and started B12 shots. I did loading doses for 3 months and now I self inject every month. Just lately, maybe the past three weeks, I have had the worst heartburn/reflux. I have it all the time, whether I eat or not, sleeping or awake; it's always there and I'm not sure what it means or what to do about it. Has anyone else had this? What did you do to help it?

Thanks! I've tried taking a probiotic before and it hurt my stomach. I know there are different strains; I've been thinking about trying something different.
I also had the exact same thing for around 3 weeks there and ive just worked it out it was because I tried to reduce my frequency of injections from every other day to once weekly,I have p.a.
I was getting my neuro symptoms back very quickly when I tried reducing so for the last week I’ve increased my injections to every other day and my gut issues have eased up again.I found the burning in my gut really distressing as you say it seemed to be with me 24/7 and nothing eased it and the gas is another story lol. Maybe your body is telling you that you need to increase your injection frequency it’s certainly helped me.good luck x
Thanks for your reply! I was wondering if it had anything to do with the B12 shot. I think I will try increasing and see if that helps. I'm glad it helped your stomach problems
Hi Kristin sorry about the delay replying I've been busily moving house and had no Internet for the last few days.ive managed to get in on my phone now lol good idea to try increasing its the only way of knowing for sure.best of luck x
Thanks again! I talked to my doctor and told him I was going to do it. He seemed like, why bother, but didn't say not to. I just purchased 12 vials so now I just need to figure out how often to inject.
I would redo loading doses if I was you so every other day for 2 weeks then try reducing to monthly for 3 months then again 3 monthly see how you get on your gp wont have a clue none of them do.If your finding after you try reducing it gets bad again then you may be like so many of us and require the extra shots every other day .its all trial and error and as you know what works for one doesent work for everybody.good luck.x
I'm not really taking anything because everything hurts
Sometimes I'll take tums for the acid reflux, but I don't really know what to do for it. I've been self injecting more, but so far I haven't really seen a difference from that.
